Great trip I'm sure. Sounds fantastic. Maybe I've lived my life in reverse and have many experiences to comeGreat bit of film Dean.
Lived in Switzerland 81/82 and me and my twin brother went all over Europe in a 2000 Berlina what a Great driving car.
I've often found the people that know what they are doing and talking about are always happy/prepared to do something creative like this.It was doing my Project 4200 that got me the job with Maserati.
I was dealing with the Dealership over getting my car into NZ and in chatting told them the story of the oil and water pump failure and offered the job on the spot.

I was passed over twice for my first management position at about 23/24 years old as I was told I was lacking experience and age. I knew I could do the job standing on my head so offered to do it for free for 3 months to prove it. They still ignored me and gave the position to 2 different outsiders who neither lasted more than a few weeks....the 1st guy 11 days before he was sacked!
They offered me the 'opportunity' after the 2nd was sacked. I did it for a year and left very stressed, over worked, under paid a year later. I suggested I wanted a 10k or 30% pay rise to stay. They thought I was bluffing I think and I left serving my month's notice.
I called a guy up on the Friday night way home from work who had been trying to poach me for some time. He offered me a job there and then and I started Monday morning! Did a year or so colour calibration consultancy calibrating displays, printers, imagesetters, printing presses and workflows. Also doing much with EFi Fiery and Colourbus RIP's in the UK.
I'm always prepared to demonstrate my worth and the ability to do a job. I wonder how many people would work for free for a month say to prove they could do a job. I'm sure many jokers wouldn't.
Not keen on the colour, but what a beautiful car!
Seems a shame that he wants to move away from carbs and stick a twin spark in there mind..
Point taken....I'll back track a little...there are obviously some grey areas but grey is not my strong point!Great story, and nice post.
As someone with pretty low self-confidence, I'm sure I could do better in life, but I've found a balance I'm happy with in terms of work / life balance and get enough cash for it to pay the bills.
I'd never have enough confidence in my own ability to do as you have done, but equally, will demonstrate my worth and ability to do the job. I just ended up stuck in the earlier position you were in, putting the effort in and not getting the reward (money...) it was worth, for a few years too.
I guess what I really want to say is that it's not just jokers who wouldn't

You should have bought it Andy, it was a *******,180hp,130mph, now over in MaltaWait for Dave, Alfatwo, to comment - the Twin Spark motor really suits the 105, a more modern engine with a tad more power out of the box easily tunable and robust and reliable. Dave had ine for sale a few years ago in a sort of cold custard colour which nI was tempted by, in hindsight I probably should have bought it.
