Well... The V6 is a GM unit so may well be good for the miles.

On the other hand the V6 is a GM unit so why bother?

Beautiful car, and a lot of motor for a great price...

I’ll be excommunicated for saying this, but if you’re looking for a reliable and handsome estate/wagon, check out the E39 Sport Touring... (facelift 2001-2003, not in the ugly SE trim) I’m utterly biased as I have my own, bought 4 years ago just before my daughter arrived. It just passed 200k miles, and with the 3L straight six petrol (bombproof engine) I’ve had one issue over the years, a dodgy MAF sensor that I ended up replacing after the main stealers couldn’t figure it out.

Auto with tiptronic is great for motorway cruising and stop start M25 shenanigans, we’ve had 3 family holidays in it... and we literally pack ‘everything’.

I bought it for 1700 and it’s hard to depreciate beyond that..

e39 tourings are indeed a handsome car. I was offered a B10 v8 touring a few years back but in the end the vendor kept it so I bought an e55 s211 estate. That I must say is a superb machine. A couple of weeks later the B10 became available again. Still not sure which would have been the better car but I can't really say a word against the e55 except maybe the mpg.

Our Brera 3.2 Q4 has 129k on it. Its a bit unfair just to say its a GM motor. It is also reasonably powerful and capable. Check the subframe for rust though, as they do seem to be dissolving now!

I have a 159 sports wagon and although not the biggest estate they are a good looking and great car. The Q4 is a very rare car and the 3.2 motor should be good for the miles, areas to check are front subframe and suspension bushes but no worse than other cars.

I know that car very well. I did the chains and clutch at about 95k with new water pump, radiator, plugs, discs & pad all round, gearbox seals, and some other bits 'n' bobs so should be a steal at that price.

It was originally an Alfa press car and is to Lusso spec. I added the TI wheels when I bought it abuot 4 years ago. I only sold it buy a Brera Spider in Spring 2016. Terrific car when I had it. It looks to have had an aftermarket touch screen sat nav added by a recent owner.
I had the engine out to do the chains etc.. and did a thorough inspection of the subframe which was A1 in 2014

Fair comment, such a shame the busso never made it into the 159 though!
