Alfa GT front auto-drop windows

Another fault I have had since owning the car is the auto-drop front windows.

The drivers one works ok, but over the week, the passenger one starts to get lazier and lazier and then only drops about 1mm instead of 10.

I can reset this buy opening the window and keeping my finger on the button for 10 secs, then all the way up and hold the button but it is annoying.

I had the dealer look at it, he replace both node sensor units. I am thinking possibly the window ECU which is under the window control buttons.

Any help appreciated.

The windows do go up and down as they should plus Alfa in an attempt to fix it replaced both mechanisms, re aligned, and no better.

Its like the passenger side over time forgets to drop, or sends less and less power to the auto drop motor.

The large multiplug at the door hinge, I've seen quite a few corrode inside and they start to affect things, sometimes though the pins actually get pushed out the plugs and sockets over time as they weren't inserted fully.

Nope, nothing yet, I recon its the ECU in the door handle, does anyone have one I can borrow?

Its the one from the GT with 2 buttons and not the 4 button one in the 147.

Give this a whirl...

Drivers window down and hold button for 10 secs.
Passenger window down and hold button for 10 secs.
Passenger window up and hold button for 10 secs.
Drivers window up and hold button for 10 secs.

Passenger window up and hold button for 10 secs.

I do this on a bi weekly basis and it works for a bit. Well, I do them together, not separately but I ll give the separate route a go but I am not hopeful.

The passenger window is worse than the drivers, I recon is something to do with power being lost as the wiring to the passenger side is much longer than the driver.

What basically happens is when you reset, it sends a 1 second burst of power to the auto drop then over the week, the amount of current sent gets less and less until it does not move at all.

All very strange

Thanks.

Tell me about it, been doing my nut for years.

I know I will fix it one day and it will be something stupid.

The car is a Cat C so has had quite a heavy frontal, cant see how that will affect the window drop though.
