Hi all,

My window dip function packed up recently, due to a broken micro switch. The cost for a new one from Eurospares is £52.57p + VAT http://www.eurospares.co.uk/partsListing.asp?M=3&Mo=494&A=2&B=19418&S=&ID4=1157732 . Or you can get one from RS Components for £10.97p http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=3257805#header You just need to use your old cable.

John

Sound John, one for the tech fix im sure, Matt will move it across soon as

Anyone know what the wire connections between the alternative and the original window dip micro switch are?
The 318014 has 3 wires grey, blue black whereas original has 2.

Mark, do you have a multimeter>

If so, check the resistance across the old switch. Is should be either infinite, or zero ohms. Press the switch and try again. It should change from one to the other. *Assuming it's not totally bust*, which, of course, it might be otherwise you'd not be replacing it.....
Once you've worked out if the original is normally open or closed, then simply find the pair of connections on the new one which behave the same way. I would say it's probably the same terminals but these switches have cable instead. Also, the RS document refers to the cables as being red, yellow and blue, which is not helpful.

Hope that's of use. Shout if not.

Sorry no. You'll have to test to see if the old switch is normal open or closed. Is it totally broken?

OK so what I spent Saturday afternoon doing.
Symptom - window would dip erratically sometimes dropping all the way and then not lifting/closing again. Seemed to be more prevalent when high humidity / wet.
Based on forum research decided that I would first do the dip micro switch before window regulator.
So based on alternative switch identified above the job went as follows:
Removed both door cards
Tested the passenger dip switch and established Normal Closed as the setup when switch is not on window ramp mechanism.
So for the Burgess V3SYRUL micro switch ($40 vs Maserati best price $140) use Black as Common and Grey as Normally Closed.
After loosening the glass clamps 2 x 8mm, I lifted the glass and clamped on rail inside the door to stop glass dropping.
Removed the window lifter mechanism 4 x 10mm regulator and 2 x 10mm lifter arm, helps if window is about midway for geared arm to be more easily manipulated.
Replaced broken micro switch (showed resistance when closed - thanks CatmanV2) using original wiring for connector.
Good opportunity to make sure every moving part is well lubricated.
Reassembly in reverse order ;>).
Now I can celebrate - working as originally intended and saved over $600 whilst getting satisfaction of doing it myself.
Thanks to forum members for all the various instructions and photos it makes these little projects so much easier.

A big thank you to all forum members who made repairing my drivers window very easy. (Before it would open all the way when a door handle was touched)

I found the micro switch on the motor sticking but also adjusted the block that makes contact with it slightly.

While i was at it I also repaired the central locking which was locking then immediately unlocking, it was the other door oso both door cards off in the end.
A bit of lube and adjustment of the anti rattle pad and all is good.

Cheers Greg
