Hi guys, just signed up, liking this forum and from what I have heard, this place is a hive of knowledge. I did have a look at the other Maserati forum, but to be honest, I have heard from alot of people that they are not happy with the way its run, so decided to plonk my vote here.

Anyway, I am a bit of a newb and just picked up my first Maserati, a 2001 blue 3200 manual, and I have a couple of questions.

In traffic, the manual clutch and accelerator seem very jerky, is this normal?

Also, when I use my windscreen wipers, they seem to judder only on the intermittent setting, is there a fix?

Must say though the car is stunning and those turbos...WOW. I just cant believe how much car I got for my money, think its in my blood already.

Sorry to start off with so many questions, but I am planning to be a regular member, and hope when I get up to speed with this amazing car, I can contribute more.

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum. I am sure that we will get your concerns answered but since I have never owned a 3200 I will leave it to one of my more knowledgeable colleagues. Glad you like the 3200. I went in one in Paris and it had me hanging on for dear life......an awesome car. Once again welcome to the forum and hope you become a regular.

Hi Paul and welcome, nice to see another new owner entering the fold!

They are great cars arnt they, still remember the day I picked mine up.

As for you foibles, the jerky clutch is normal, but can be improved by resetting your accelerator, but other than that, you just get used to it and i know, they are a bit of a pig in traffic.

Here is the reset procedure, you might want to do it a couple of times and you should notice a difference:

Closed throttle resetting
1/. Put gear selector/lever in neutral.
2/. Flick accelerator pedal a couple of times with the edge of your shoe to ensure full return is achieved.
3/. Switch ignition ’round as far as MAR.
4/. DO NOT START ENGINE!
5/. Leave all pedals and switches alone for at least 2 minutes.
6/. Switch off ignition.

Full throttle resetting
1/. Put gear selector/lever in neutral.
2/. Switch ignition ’round as far as MAR.
3/. DO NOT START ENGINE!
4/. Gently depress accelerator pedal to full extent of its travel and keep it there for 5 seconds.
5/. Release throttle.
6/. Switch off ignition.

As for the wipers, its not fixable I am afraid. You can take the wiper motor apart and clean the contacts but it does come back. Its water on the contacts that then corrode. It starts of doing it just now and again, but then gradually gets worse and worse, best just to plump for a new motor.

Hope this helps
