Write off offer

Just had unwelcome news from my insurers. I think the nominated (non Maserati) repair shop have overegged the cost eg I asked about the extra cost of repainting the offside rear wing - would be £1000 + vat. Eurospares quote for a new rear bumper and rear light would be under £1000. I was told that the front bumper would also have to be replaced due to cracking in paintIMG_20180730_161726 (1).jpgIMG_20180730_161716.jpgIMG_20180728_122126 (1).jpg

Do you want to keep it? If so you could buy it back and fix it up.

Never accept the first offer... thats just to insult you and make it look like thier slightly increased offers are helpful.

Sorry to hear of your woes.
There is a good selection of rear bumpers and front bumpers on ebay whether they're cheap enough not sure.
If you're getting it fixed do stress with your body shop you want a good match as silver is a pain to match.
Best of luck

Any descent panel beater could straighten that rear wing. Used rear bumper, what, £300???

Repaint quarter, rear bumper and front bumper, all in a grand tops and thats the high amount.

If they do write it off, NEVER accept the first offer, maybe the third or fourth one. Prepare to haggle.

You just need to stand your ground and don't let them push you around, they must pay out a figure that will allow you to buy a similar car, spec, condition, mileage etc.
If third party at fault you can also threaten to take the third party to a small claims unless settled to your satisfaction, they will soon pay more attention to you, speaking from experience, good luck

I spoke to them - in fairness the initial offer is £12k which is very close to CAP guide maximum. I am waiting an update having pointed out that it had Larini cats fitted less than 12 months ago at c£2k. Its just the potential cost of any premium uplift that is likely to flow for a replacement that I wonder about.

Ask to buy the car back if it registered as a CAT D and then get it repaired for a K or take the £12K and ask for the cats back and put them on a replacement,

+1 I told my insurance when I had Larinis fitted to the 3200 and GS as some class this as a modification.

Just a ball shite excuse for an insurance company to hike the price up, I remember buying a Fiat 500 Sport for my daughter some 4 years ago and then fitting an original abarth twin exhaust and rear bumper, told the insurance company and they loaded the premium considerably, purely out of interest I then got a quote for her on a genuine Fiat 500 Abarth and it came out cheaper, try and get your head round that, just a scam by insurance companies to fleece you out of more money:ohh:

Completely agree so we just have to be careful of the small print!

Find a similar car for sale at a dealer within 30 miles and give them that price as a valuation , they're supposed to put you in the same position you were before the accident

Not local but found 2 reasonably comparable so have sent details to the insurers and waiting for response.
