Very nice Van.

Can you give us some history on the 75 and 33?

I assume the 75 was the pre runner to the 155 and the 33 was basically a Sud, any more you can tell us?

The 75 was the last of the transaxle cars which began with the Alfetta back in 1972, through the Giulietta of the 77-85. All these cars were based on a similar design with the engine in the front and the gearbox being situated in the rear with the axle - hence transaxle. The theory of transaxle cars was that it helped provide better balance front to rear but in practise Alfa never really managed to get a decent linkage from gear lever to box and this was often criticised.

The 75 was introduced in 1985 to commemorate Alfas 75th birthday, hence the name. It was also the last model developed by Alfa before the take over by Fiat. The 75 came with a myriad of engines over it's life time from 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 4 Cylinder Twin Cams to 2.5 & 3.0 V6, there was even a couple of diesels and finally the awesome turbocharged 75s including the awesome Evo. Gearboxes were 5 speed manual or 3 speed auto.

In all over 350,000 units were produced, the final swan song was the 75 parts bin SZ & RZ (Coupe & Convertible) where strangely Alfa at last sorted the transaxle gear change a little too late maybe.

The 75 was replace by the 155 a similar sized Alfa but one that bore little resemblance to the 75. Front wheel drive based on the Fiat Tipo - RIP Alfa and rear wheel drive.

23 Years old and walked through her MOT with no advisories yesterday.

Must use her more though only 1136 miles since the last MOT :(

Off to Llandow next week so that will be a few miles towards this years mileage

So another year and another MOT, we changed the Pads as they had done quite a few track days and then a straight pass with no advisories.

Only downside is only 612 miles in the year, really need to use her more.

Well on the basis that she needs to get used tomorrow both the Sz and the Giulietta will be out for a little run.
