This months car presentation goes to Thomas's Giulia Super :numberone:

I'm posting the pictures, so Thomas can come and give you the short story behind this car ;)

It's a Cyprus registered 1973 model Giulia Super 1600. It's one of the last of the second series cars before the face lifted version was launched. This car was owned by three people prior to me, one of which I nearly ran over as he jumped out in the road, hands waving and clearly in an excited mode... Excited to see 'his' car after selling it and regretting it ever since.. It's then that I realised how this boxy little car affects people who retain fond memories of them from their childhood years. It was in its day common enough to be owned as the family car but exotic enough to be that bit special. They were more attainable and approachable than the coupes ever were, so more people will have experienced their ownership.

the rear wheel drive layout, revvy twin cam, twin carb, balanced crankshaft, all round disc brakes, all synchro gearbox are some of the primary ingredients in its recipe for success. These attributes help make it a car which can still keep up with modern day traffic yet give me so much 'smile per mile..'

My car was bought out of my interest in class regularity rallies. It has since become my anytime perk, taking me on many tours around the island. My personal highlight was day I took it on the race track. That was the day that I realised what this car could do, even on old tyres. It was a revelation and sheer joy, keeping it on the edge as the bodyroll had me clinging to the wheel, engine near limit, brakes trying do their job.
Then the family in and drove back home. Perfect family car..

Nice story Thomas! You could post some other photos, such as interior or engine, in order to have a complete look at the car. :)
This is a nice thread! Looking forward for more info and pics on the featured cars!
keep up the good work!

Chris I got the Alfa bug when a friend bought a 2000 Berlina as a daily driver and took me as a co-driver to a rally. That was my first taste of Italian machinery. After that I was hellbent on a series one 1750 GTV coupe, and ended up finding one in a very bad condition.. Then other rustbucket and overpriced 2000GTV's got me depressed in that the classic car prices were a nonsense.
One night I saw a Giulia saloon parked at night near the GSP stadium traffic lights. It was raining but I got down took a look and it seemed relatively ok.. One day later nightime again, meeting in a petrol station, I testdrove it for all of 3 minutes, then I handed the money and drove off.. That was it. I drove it home thinking it was at least an Alfa, even if a boxy one, and one that I could lie to my wife about and say it was for the whole family too....
Ever since and with a few fixes and alterations to get it in a more roadworthy condition it has been growing on me..

And Chris yes the racetrack was its high point.. The safest way to push as hard as I wanted with the maximum relative safety.. It was a truly a revelation..
Also after the tortures of the summer rallies many are the times when I've physically patted it on the bonnet :) it's given the family so much joy and so many precious memories..
