Hi guys,

Just thought i'd say hello, see a few familiar names on here lol.

The 1.8 156 has gone to meet it's maker (well was 15yr old and spent every day of it's life right beside salt water so it's done pretty **** well) and on top of impending redish brown powder it needed loads of other stuff then mot and tax so woulda been silly money.

The 156 2.4 20v is going strong (enjoying the 166 callipers - shoulda come with them).. recently changed alternator, idler on sprung tensioner and aux belt (next jobs: driveshaft attention, sort dodgy connection or wire on coolant temp sensor and then ARB bushes).

Hope your all well :)

John

Hi Nick, thanks,

Not got many good ones but here is a couple.

2005 156 2.4 mjet;
166 brembos on gta/gtv 305 discs and h&r spacers
Full set of upper and lower strut braces
Recaro leather
Also have rear hoop spoiler to be painted then fitted

Next on list (well as time/funds permit but what i'd like to do)
GTA ARB's
Adjustable suspension

Nah only kidding,

Brackets drawing done on alfa155.org so got brackets made... needed a wee tweak to inside edge as 156 has casting line a little closer, so a fine grinding disk to take out a tiny bit from edge on inside face of bracket...

305mm gta/gtv discs. Then space out calliper from bracket with washers to size up for spacers.

Lastly bolt it all together (166 callipers fit on std flexi).

If i was doing again i'd maybe look at disks in about 310x28 size (possible rotor/bell - willwood do a nice rotor in 310x28 that isn't too expensive so would just need to source suitable bell) as at 305 a little of pad hangs off top edge - but doesn't effect it. Could go 330gta disks but clearance becomes tight so would need gta wheels or 18's to be sure) and you'd need to adjust bracket to suit).

Even on GT version of the 17's (wider offset the 156 version) i needed about 10mm spacer (got 15mm h&r hibcentric ones).

Job done!!!

Iirc i got everything i need (callipers, kevlar fast road pads, brembo discs, bolts, even braided goodridge hoses (still to fit) and brackets for about £150) though memory not quite 100% on total. Think seb on 155.org is selling 166 callipers and 155 brackets at moment (just need small tweak to fit onto 156 hub)...

If ever doing this with 166 brambo do a favour and make up (or buy - though they are silly price for what they are) 4 shims to sit between pad and piston (just oblong with two holes for pad locator pins) as 4 pot brembos (as fitted to evo, scoob and 166) commonly squeal when coming to stop at slower/town speeds ;)
