A well known GT that some of you will know

Congrats sir, so jealous, i would have snapped this one up if I had the money. Probably the best example in the country and with a part in fifth gear to boot :)

Enjoy her :)

OK week 1 with the GT summary:

A great car, fantastic engine unlike most 24V units it has loads of low down torque along with top end power. It drives well and is a nice comfortable place to be. It is fast and will sit nicely at any speed you choose.

Downsides the turning circle is appalling, almost impossible to get out of our drive in one go. Sarah finds it hard to drive as she has the seat so far forward that there is not room for her arm to fit between the seat bolster and the gear lever. It is hard to park as you can't see any of the corners but I might get used to that.

It needs a pair of front tyres (ordered) and at night the high level brake light is too bright and lights up the whole back of the car.

Overall I am happy it is like a GTV but less twitch on the back and once the tyres are sorted and maybe a few suspension tweaks it will be a great everyday car. It is a testament to its pervious owners Simon & Clare that it doesn't look, feel or drive anything like its mileage would suggest it should.

Fitted new tyres to the front to sort out wheelspin issues becoming a big fan of the Goodyear Eagle AS2s. I will replace the rears in the next few weeks even though the Conti Contact 3s have loads of tread but I prefer to run matching tyres where I can.

Front wishbones have a bit of play, surprisingly they have the cheap aftermarket chocolate items fitted so these will be getting replaced with proper ones that have some life in them.

Update, GT still going great although a few minor issues have needed addressing mostly related to what appears the inability of a previous specialist to tighten nuts and bolts which initially caused starting issues due to loose battery terminals. Both battery and alternator needed to be replaced but more worrying were the loose bolts holding the cam gear together fortunately caught before any major problem. Took opportunity to replace belts at the same time.

My views of said specialist have dipped even lower than my previous low opinion.

Great looking car, and an excellent choice of engine. I hope you get the niggles sorted., and nothing else rears its head. Looking at that engine bay, I assume the alternator was a pain to change as it is in the GTV.

It is a great piece of kit, I am surprised I missed having one for so long. The 3.2 is such a great engine much better, IMO, then the earlier 3.0 24V and the chassis and handling for a powerful FWD is up there with the best, once again better than then GTV which I always found to be twitchy towards the limit.

Little bugger keeps throwing niggles at me - Lost all the right channel, simple loose wire and now the cable release to tip the passenger seat has popped out of the release handle

More minor woes with the old girl, she has been throwing the engine warning light on the odd cold morning for a few weeks but yesterday threw it and it stayed on all the way up North. Cleared on the way back but I will get it over to A4A to check it out

Probably nothing but attention seeking ;)

Misfire cyl 6 and 5. Timing checked ok, plugs look good. Compression check, no compression cyl 6 :( yet to check the rear bank.

Doesn't look good.

Looks like the Maser Spyder will be the daily driver for a bit, every cloud has a silver lining :)
