The headline reads: "Huracan loses its top in Miami; is it all (life)style over substance though?"

Who gives a shi!t. It looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing Andy. I'm just off out to commit some epic financial fraud*

*not true, by the way, in case the police ever feels the need to investigate my online activity. Fraud is best conducted in small and manageable chunks, apparently.

Not so, according to the HSBC Fraud detection team, who have yet to challenge me on a $8k+ hotel bill, or £5k flights, or similar. Attempt to buy a bottle of shampoo in Walmart though, or a mouse in Best Buy, and the world collapses. $10 produces dozens of alarm bells on the desk of the elite team paid to watch my expenditure. My advice - do the fraud once, and do it big. Just not on my account though, please.

Clearly, Drew, HSBC sees you as the kind of chap who regularly splurges four figures on the luxury items but has a chap who buys your shampoo for you. You should be flattered!

An old colleague of mine was complaining about being challenged on his expenses. He pointed out that there's no point getting sacked over a dodgy £100 lunch invoice so if ever he planned to stitch the company up he'd have to go large and make it a once-in-a-lifetime fiddle. Which would mean expensing such a huge amount of money the chances are someone would probably twig that maybe his expenses might need checking.

There is of course the ever reducing requirement for shampoo... Perhaps that's what they are considering.

I mention the other figures, since they had been charged the same day as the shampoo purchasing incident. Not a peep from them when I settled the hotel bill for the team (not just me in the luxurious HoJo in a remote part of Georgia....) and flights to get us out of the hateful place into actually a more hateful place, where the English was even more tortured.

Agree on the expenses though - certainly not worth it. Pal of mine once discovered his junior business partner had been defrauding their company by submitting invoices from a fake company, and had been at it for years. He was only caught because he'd made a mistake calculating the VAT, and the receiving accounts woman phoned the company to ask them to correct it. Big can of worms opened there...

The lesson is, if you are going to steal from your bosses, don't go on holidays :)

Oops!

As a stoodent one of my numerous weekend and holiday jobs was in a DIY superstore. At the end of one particularly busy day I was given £100k in cash to take the bank, and the boss's car (a new Escort 1.4i (an i!)) to take it in. I was terrified! But I did manage to hit 104 downhill at one point. Never occurred to me to nick either cash or car.

Just out of curiosity, when was that?
That would be completely unthinkable these days.
Today it would probably go in an armored car with armed guards

A while back. Must have been late 80s / early 90s, more or less. I was pretty taken aback, I must admit!

Shampoo? What is this you speak of? I've just had the same from Santander, a few recent 5 figure sums, not a peep, yet a seemingly random small one got blocked!
