Yes, I'll be there on Saturday. I know the organisers (been lots of times before with other cars) and have been invited to display my car in the paddock. Feel bit of a fraud about that because my Zagato Spyder is hardly a historic car but hey ho! Would be nice to catch up with any SM members. David

Would be interested but as the GS will not navigate the field parking is there room else where?

Last year they took pity on me and let the GS park in the area just off the gravel access road 100 yards pass where the italian car clubs were displayed.

I had arranged to take the Venturi on the Sunday to meet with a couple of other owners, but now find myself on a rugby tour that weekend so won't make it. Maybe next year.

Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 May 2017
A celebration of French and Italian cars, music and entertainment

On the weekend of Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May 2017, the eleventh annual pageant of French motoring excellence – La Vie en Bleu takes place at Prescott Hill Climb, Gotherington in Gloucestershire – home of the Bugatti Owners' Club. This spectacular two day event has always been a firm favourite in the motoring calendar, and this year will be no exception. Last year ‘La Vito Rossa’ was introduced to also celebrate everything Italian! Prescott Hill Climb will once again be transformed into a celebration of fine French and Italian automobiles, themed entertainment, musicians, dancers, actors and trade stalls.

This 2017 event will feature top class racing with special competition classes for French and Italian marques plus a round of the Ferrari Hillclimb Championship on the Saturday. Fans of British cars will also be well catered for with a special class for ERA cars. There will also be non-competitive runs by a LaFerrari, two Bugatti Veyrons, plus the new Bugatti Chiron will also make an appearance!

Event Highlights:

The spectacular new Bugatti Chiron makes its first-ever appearance at Prescott!

The Bugatti Chiron is the world’s fastest, most powerful, most luxurious and exclusive production super sports car. The 1479bhp hypercar is the successor to the legendary Veyron, and will be carrying out demonstration runs at the historic Prescott hillclimb over the course of the weekend.

The car is capable of 261mph, and can accelerate from 0-124mph in less than 6.5 seconds; from rest, it will get to 186mph in only 13.6 seconds! It boasts a monstrous 8-litre W16 engine with four turbochargers, and each of the 500 that are set to be built will cost a cool £1.9 million. As the home of the Bugatti Owners Club, Prescott will be the perfect setting for the Chiron and, with the famous Molsheim marque always being well represented at La Vie en Bleu; it will be joined on the hill by an array of vintage Bugattis, a Veyron Supersport and its 1990’s cousin the EB110.

What’s more you might be able to win a thrilling passenger ride in one! The Friends of Prescott will be selling raffle tickets onsite, and one lucky winner will be drawn each day.

Chiron – The Man Exhibition Opens

New for 2017 - ‘Chiron – The Man –‘ opening at the Bugatti Trust on May 27th is an exhibition dedicated to the life and racing career of one of Ettore Bugatti’s most famous works drivers: Louis Chiron. Hugely successful in the 1920s and 1930s, racing Bugattis including the types 22, 35, 51 and 53, he had an extraordinary life which saw him compete in GP racing up to the age of 55. The exhibition will chronicle the start of his career and progress to becoming an official and celebrated team member of the Écurie Bugatti. The Bugatti Trust exhibition will include original GP cars from the period, photographs of seminal moments of his career and historic racing memorabilia. A small additional display will celebrate the renowned Bugatti Queen Hellé Nice who was a racing contemporary of Chiron. The Bugatti Trust is open all weekend with FREE admission with event entry wristband.

The Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta chassis

The Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta chassis #2735 is one of the most famous and recognizable 250 SWB’s in the world. Chassis number 2735, is one of only three right-hand drive Competition short-wheelbase cars and one of the most famous of all 250 SWBs, thanks to the deep blue Rob Walker racing colours and the number 7, this was the car in which Sir Stirling won his seventh Tourist Trophy race, at Goodwood in 1961. It was also raced by Graham Hill and Innes Ireland.

Chassis 2735 was the Ferrari most raced by Moss, who described it as the “best GT car in the world”.
Sir Stirling raced the 2735 GT to victory in all his other five outings in the car during 1961, the International Trophy at Silverstone, the Peco Trophy at Brands Hatch, the previously mentioned Tourist Trophy at Goodwood, plus the Over 1500cc GT Car race and the Nassau Tourist Trophy in the Bahamas. The latter race being the last he would win before his career ending accident at Goodwood in 1961.

Special class for ERA voiturettes

The famous cars made by ERA (English Racing Automobiles) epitomise British motor racing during the 1930s and have a very special place in the affections of patriotic enthusiasts. Fans of British racers will be treated to a special class for ERA voiturettes this weekend. Six ERA’s will be competing including the iconic ex-Raymond Mays R4D – the most celebrated chassis in the marque's history. OK so it’s not French or Italian, but ERA R4D was the only D-Type ever built by English Racing Automobiles in the 1930s and was designed to compete with the highly successful Bugatti’s and Maseratis of its era. ERA founder Raymond Mays also set numerous pre-war records in the R4D, including ones at Prescott hill climb. The vehicle remains one of the most successful pre-war competition cars of its time.

We are also joined by ERA R4D author and historian Mac Hulbert who will be participating in book signing sessions at the Friends of Prescott shop. The magnificent book tells the story of a uniquely historic example that has competed almost without a break for 80 years and achieved innumerable successes.

Former Bernie Ecclestone Lamborghini Miura on display in the paddock

The Miura is recognised widely as the first supercar of the modern era, but even that doesn’t do justice to the sheer jaw-dropping OMG “wow” of its arrival in 1966. The Shah of Persia kept his pair under armed guard and orders rolled in when it was still a naked chassis, long before Bertone found such wonderful clothing for its body. This was the first road-going mid-engined car, producing a claimed 180mph and a suspension rendering certain rigid rear-axled Ferraris antiquated.

The Miura was produced between 1966 and 1969, and on its debut the Miura was the fastest production car in the world, with a top speed of 280kph, and acceleration from 0-100kph in 6.7 seconds. The two-seater vehicle with its central V12 engine and fascinating body redefined the concept of a sports car.

After the car’s launch a Lamborghini employee was instructed to simply rev the engine in Casino Square, Monte Carlo; he came away with 17 orders. From Frank Sinatra to Jay Kay, several stars have owned one, and yet there were only 764 built.

The model heading to Prescott was formally owned by Bernie Ecclestone and more historically - Justin de Villeneuve better known for launching Twiggy as the World's first supermodel and managing her from 1966 to 1973. Imagine the Sixties city-scape against a backdrop of Austin A35s and Bedford commercials and Justin roaring it up the Kings Road accompanied by one of the world’s most beautiful women in micro-mini.

The Beast returns to the Hill

The Fiat S76, known as the Beast of Turin is the one surviving example of a pair of land speed record contenders the Italian automaker built before WWI. The Beast of Turin’ was built in 1910 with the express intention of beating the land speed record, held at the time by Blitzen-Benz. Its 28.5-litre Fiat S76 engine was capable of providing an impressive 300bhp at 1800 RPM - enough to propel the car to 116 mph, and a one-mile land speed record, in 1911. After WWI Fiat dismantled one of the two impressive machines to prevent rival manufacturers obtaining its technical secrets, while the other one was purchased by Russian aristocrat Boris Soukhanov.

In 2003, engineer enthusiast and current owner Duncan Pittaway hunted down the remains and obtained the chassis from Australia and the S76 engine from its sister car that was dismantled by the automaker. It was missing three crucial parts that needed to be recreated: the double-chain drive gearbox, the body and the radiator. Referring to original drawings and photographs from the early 20th century it took Pittaway and his crew almost 13 years to rebuild the once powerful and elegant automobile

Owner Duncan Pittaway will be firing up the beast, and competing during the weekend. He is located in the lower paddock.

Happy 50th birthday to the Alfa Romeo Montreal

First shown to the public at the 1967 Montreal World Exhibition, the Alfa Romeo Montreal combined futuristic aesthetics with competition performance in a car that was suitable for use on the town. Designed by Bertone styling legend Marcello Gandini at the behest of the organisers of Expo 67, the prototype Montreal proved so popular that Alfa Romeo jumped to put it into production.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Montreal we are joined by two fantastic examples this weekend. Derek Johnson will be competing on the Saturday in his 1976 Alfa Romeo Montreal and Dominic Hentall will be displaying his rare 1972/3 model. The vehicle was originally from Holland and was rebuilt extensively about 17 years ago. In its latter years it sat in a garage untouched and unfinished until Dominic purchased it 3 years ago and restored it himself. It has since graced the covers of a leading motoring magazine and has been invited to high profile events. For Dominic though, coming to Prescott to display his beloved Montreal will be an emotional trip down memory lane. Dominic first saw a Montreal on a visit to Prescott as a teenager, he heard it running and loved it! This is his first visit to Prescott in 35 years.

Making its debut to Prescott the 1948 Cisitalia 202 SMM Nuvolari Spider

Making its debut at Prescott is a stunning Italian racing-spider - the 1948 Cisitalia 202 SMM (Nuvolari Spider). This example is just one of 28 originally built between 1947-1948 and one of only 5 original survivors today.

This Cisitalia is the ex-Mario De Boni car. He raced it through 1955, including the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti in 1951. In addition to campaigning it in the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti in 1951, it has successfully taken part in the Mille Miglia multiple times since the 1940s and returns this month.

Another debut to Prescott! The most beautiful single seater Grand Prix racing car ever built, the 1954 Maserati 250F Tipo 1CM04/2505

We are also joined by the iconic Maserati 250F Tipo, this vehicle is truly unique among Grand Prix cars, it has both an illustrious racing career spanning seven years and can claim association with numerous racing greats, including Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Alberto Ascari and Mike Hawthorn.

The 250F was awarded legendary status following its success on the circuit and was considered to be one of the greatest and most beautiful single seater Grand Prix racing cars of all time, with its fine handling and powerful six cylinder engine; a competitive car, even at today’s historic Grand Prix car events. The pure aerodynamic shape is one of the finest designs to have been constructed on a racing car chassis, and it remains a ‘50s icon that is highly desirable among collectors.

The vehicle was originally owned by Count Hubertus von Donhoff the vehicle passed through the hands of several notable collectors and has campaigned in historic events by former owners Count Giovanni Lurani, and Count Luigi Castelbarco. It now resides in the Michael Oliver Collection, who says "We are only custodians of these things for a few years preserving them for future generations."

Michael has FIA paperwork, historical paperwork and a letter from Cameron Millar discussing the car, and its history. It’s a fabulous example of the most beautiful single seater Grand Prix car with so much racing provenance we are delighted to have it at Prescott.

Entertainment

Its not just cars too - there is a whole raft of entertainment to keep the family entertained; what’s more children under 14 years old go free!.

Battle of Britain Flypast

Sat 27 May – Dakota 13:30pm
Dakota ZA947 is painted to represent Dakota FZ692 of No 233 Squadron, around the D-Day period in 1944. This aircraft, which was named ‘Kwicherbichen’ by her crews, was involved in Para-dropping operations on the eve of D-Day and subsequently in re-supply and casualty evacuation missions into and out of forward airfields in the combat areas. The female nurses who escorted the casualties on these flights became known as ‘The Flying Nightingales’. By the end of 1944, 1,092 stretcher cases and 467 sitting wounded had been evacuated to England by the 233 Squadron Dakotas.

Sun 28 May - Spitfire 14:15pm
The iconic aircraft of the Battle of Britain is a symbol of British defiance in the air. Designed by Reginald Mitchell, it had an advanced all-metal airframe, making it light and strong. It took longer to build than the Hurricane and was less sturdy, but it was faster and had a responsiveness which impressed all who flew it. Crucially, it was a match for the Luftwaffe’s Messerschmitt Bf 109 and was superior to it at lower altitudes. Spitfires shot down a total of 529 enemy aircraft, for a loss of 230 of their own.

The appearance of these iconic planes will be a very poignant and evocative sight to be seen and we are grateful to The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the RAF's tribute to the aviators of WWII for allowing them to head over Prescott - Lest We Forget.

Music and Dance

If you love swing music - you have a treat in store as ‘Rat Pack’ singer Roman Marek – purveyor of ‘cool swing’ will be performing some of the greatest songs from his extensive ‘Frank Sinatra’ songbook including such hits as Come Fly With Me, That’s Amore, Under My Skin and Mack The Knife. Roman has performed at numerous major UK national theatres, stadiums and cruise ships worldwide as the lead of ‘The Rat Pack’ Show.

Plus La Swing – a jazz quintet performing French Chanson, Gypsy Jazz and 30’s Swing to create a sophisticated French cafe vintage feel (Sun). We also welcome the return of Oyster Opera - the magnificent duo regularly performs at celebrity parties, including that of Sir Elton John. Beware you might be invited to waltz along with the soprano to Verdi's Brindisi, be enveloped by a smouldering Carmen, or have a charming Pavarotti serenade you on one knee

Additional event information:
Advance tickets are still available online, priced for £15 per day or £25 for the weekend – on-the-gate prices are £20 and £35 respectively.

Ticket prices include car parking and full access to all the public areas including the paddock.

Is this the longest post ever?

Possibly it is......... especially because as you quoted it in full, it has been posted twice! :beat_brick:

I simply quoted the email that I was sent - it contained much more detail of what is 'on', how much & how to buy tickets than the original link.

It may have been a long post but I found it very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to post it.

I'm now going on the Saturday which is the Italian day. Have asked whether I can park in the Paddock. We'll see if it's already full or my QP is not vintage enough!

Are you displaying Karen?

If you have a pass they will squeeze you in but early birds catch the worms and all that.

There was plenty of catering facilities last year and I enjoyed coffee at about 09:30 last time....there is however limited shelter if things are not that nice.

We have tickets for both days and will only attend if dry, although the long range forcast is hot and sunny that weekend.

Have a pass for the Orchard so thought get there around 8ish unless it's that's to early, are there long queues?

Taking extra items if wet on the Saturday and have given them 2 possible cars.

Will still go if the forecast changes as never been to this

May see you there then
