Nice feature in Auto Italia, I’m not a massive fan of Ferrari’s especially modern stuff, however of the few older cars I like the 365 GT4 BB is up there, very rare only 88 in rhd and only 58 UK supplied, lovely machine

That was my poster car. Stunning thing. Especially the early three light three tailpipes per side.

Why did sports/super car manufacturers move away from lift up, easy access clams to let's make it as *** difficult as possible to work on? Revenue generation?

Wibble, my wall poster too, even had an airfix type model of one - well two actually one I made up and the other I kept as it left the factory. In fact I found that one in a box that came out of the loft as we pack up.

One of the few mid engined Ferraris I would have, the clam shells both ends, that flat 12 engine and of course 6 exhausts pipes when you're young it don't come any better.

Ease of assembly, not ease of maintenance

C

The clams are basically for motorsport applications so you can remove engine/gearboxes swiftly, everything on a race bread car is put together in such a way that it can be be replaced in very short period of time so as to continue racing as quickly as possible, engines/gearboxes can normally be swapped out in 15 to 45 minutes with a trained crew and with minimal tools out in the field in some motorsport of the past
