So it's now finished, just booking flights and ferries but should collect on 6th November. It actually went into the paintshop on 8th January 2018 so it has been a long time coming.

Refurb wheels should be ready early new year, widened to better fill arches, and then just the seats to redone but they can wait until winter 2020 I want to enjoy her next year.

Nice one Andy and what a nice Mrs Zagatoes you must have :)

She has her moments, to be honest when going through a divorce I have considered selling the SZ a number of times and it was Sarah (now Mrs Z) who put her foot down and said - No Way, we will make do but the SZ stays. Probably a good decision based on current values but not sure who is looking forward to it coming back most, me or her, she loves driving it.

It was really hard to get a number of various shades of red to match the factory look :happy2:

Actually the paint is really good but most of the effort was getting the shoddy panels that Alfa fitted flat. The amount of filler and paint Alfa used to end up with normal SZ ripples was shocking, 9 coats of paint on the bonnet alone.

All the **** was removed, right back to the base and then all inconsistencies were removed to get a super smooth panel to accept primer and paint. Time and effort in preparation was demoralising at times but it paid off on the finish.
Surprised there wasn’t any cigarette ash in the original paint, knowing the Italian’s!
Stunning motor! Saw one when I was about 13, I had no idea what it was but was fascinated by the headlights. Enjoy!

So a few minor finishing jobs on the SZ still to do but this weekend I refitted the panels that make up the top of the inner wings on the front and refitted the undergrad after I had dropped the oil and fitted a new filter (oil had only done 500 miles but was 2 years old after being stood in the paintshop).

Then took it out for a blast around the Irish countryside, a run down the R742 (equivalent of a B road) before dropping on tp the coast road down to Wexford before coming back up the R741 home. Safe to say these style roads suit the SZ, small relatively quiet with nice short straights joining a variety of twisting turns together, Roads here are relatively well kept and the SZ only grounded out once despite some spirited driving.

Great to have the old girl back, she certainly needs to be used more and I certainly need to go through it from end to end and clean it, paintshop dust gets everywhere.

Looking great!

Love these. Bought a 1966 Giulia a few years ago when SZ's were the same sort of money, wish I could have both!!!

On another note I was looking at trying to get some of these 5 stud wheels to fit to my 916 V6 Spider, I'd love some, but ££££
