How about Silverstone Classic as an alternative to LMC? Similar racing albeit not in France with all the fun that comes with the Gallic adventure.

I’m fortunate in that I’m now allowed to visit my French rentals to work on them for possible rental later this year, but can’t horse about and go there in a toy car, so trying Silverstone this year.

Originally I was thinking of nipping over to the states to see some 'murican racing. There's a double header of NASCAR and Indycar at Indianapolis on the 14th August . Which would tick two of my bucket list boxes in one go. This plan got canned when Le Mans moved to the 21st.
Now that Biden is vaccinating the USA far better than Macron is the French, I think Plan A is back on. and I'll see you in the Welsh gite later on.

Papers were suggesting that USA would be on the green list come May....

Did the Silverstone classic in 2014 including going on the track with Stirling Moss. Its OK but I've not done an American meet. I nearly did WSB at Laguna Seca but had to drive back to LA. Still kicking myself for it.

The biggest problem with Silverstone Classic is it’s at Silverstone. It used to be bad for spectators when I was a kid but since the revised GP circuit and new pits it’s woeful.

90% behind closed doors again IMO. Everything is locked down here again with all bars and hotels shut and infections raging.

You see, I was hoping that someone would say 'game on, 100%, no way this won't happen.' Deep down, on the other hand...

Race aside, will us jabbed-up foreigners be allowed in to tear up the roads and empty the supermarkets of beer, barbecue meat and fresh fruit and veg?

Good question Adam indeed.
Personally I think this year will be a write off.
Then we need people to accept the vaccine especially here in France.

Well, many people here don't trust the government (yours or ours) but it doesn't make us not want to do something good. If the French government had a 'Finis avec le Gauloise' campaign, would France rise up and say bugger ça, je ne trustez pas le government so je shall fumer to mon coeur's content. Or at least until it packs up in protest (probably wearing a gilet jaune).

Our national press is all over the place with stories each week that holidays in the sun are on!... mostly red-tops.

Does anyone think that normality is closer than Sept for a decent foreign holiday?

I think it's touch and go. Still really hoping to make Mexico at the beginning of October, but also willing to accept some self isolation on that. OTOH I think the govt are terrified of making a misstep and getting blamed. I think we could actually get on with things sooner given the new vaccine data and that it's now virtually impossible to separate people who would have died anyway with COVID from the COVID deaths

Just announced on tv by the Prime Minister that the curfew is staying until further notice here in France.

I see the gathering at Saint Saturnin on the Friday has been cancelled partly due to the uncertainty about the race going ahead.

I think I've spotted an exaggeration. We don't empty the supermarkets of fruit and veg, that stays on the shelves.

You need to read a more positive newspaper, Phil! This is a rare Telegraph article to be pleased about.

Thanks for sharing, Gaz.
