Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - who owns one and is it epic?

Some grey reviews of the car but the question is would you pay 150k for one. A lot of money that.
I thought about it and if you pay 150k for this you at least have a good chance of avoiding depreciation which you can't with the standard car.

You can buy some pretty stunning metal for 150k used and new rather than this. Pus I think I would feel I dick driving around in it with those dreadful carbon wheel arch extensions and huge wing......Hats off for them making it though but brilliant it may be but is it 80k better then the standard car. You could have a standard car and an Stradale on the drive with change.......I know which I would be more happy with.

Just catching up on this thread and still mulling over a QF. As I have learned more about these cars I have found if I want the raw experience as Ferrari intended, I need to buy a 2017-2019 car. When the 202 facelift arrived AR changed the whole front sub-assembly and steering arms for level II autonomous driving and robbed the car of its sharp steering, one of its best attributes, along with more sound deadening and thicker window glass.

I want a fully optioned car and they just don't seem to be around at all so the Nring looks like the best way into a fully optioned car loaded with all the carbon bits. I had hesitations over the frozen paint but since it's semi-gloss rather than flat I can get it ceramic coated. Hhmm decisions decisions.....

Interesting, it’s one of my potentials for next car too, didn’t know about the suspension changes. I knew about the autonomous electronic stuff and nicer interior bits, but I guess, like you say, it’s better having the 17-19 original that some nicer plastics.

I've had the Maserati experience and struggle to see why it makes an Alfa only an Alfa. The brand status conferred by Maserati is of no interest and the brand doesn't make a single car that excites me or is comparable to the QF, so it's a moot point in my eyes.

It is something that the forums are now chattering away over but has only recently become more widely known. Auto Fanatic, a prominent QF Youtuber (I posted a clip on the first page) will be posting a detailed video soon showing specifically the different components in the front end. He owns both a 2018 and 2021 car and is quite disappointed in the 2021 car.

A Ghibli Trofeo doesn’t interest you? I’d have one over a Guilia QF every day of the week. Of course there’s a price difference…. but it’s a Maserati

I like the ghibli trofeo a lot, however, there is a good chance that time may well look back at the guilia QF as being the greatest sports saloon of all time.

It appears that even during its own lifetime it is being dumbed down, things are changing so fast with autonomous/noise regulation.

Just looking to buy a new one and sell my 2017 car. It's been fantastic! It has most options but not the carbon backed seats.

I know there is more sound deadening, no standard carbon roof, and an extra set of injectors, but I hope they haven't messed with the steering because it's just so fantastic!

I'm not on here often now after selling the 3200 AC, I've noticed a lot of people here look down on the Quadrifoglio; but it truly is a great car!

I’ve not noticed anyone here look down on them. Personally I think they’re epic.

What attracts you to replace the one you have now with the newer model? (Other than the usual new car blah blah?)

Thanks, I see all of the positive comments when I scroll up, perhaps I was a bit hasty.

I think it was the "but it's not a Maserati" which is isn't, and when I first got the car and still regularly visiting this forum a guy was arguing that his 400bhp Ghibli was "probably just as fast and it's a Maserati"

Ironically I've been toying with the idea of getting a very late Granturismo, maybe even a Stradale!!

The Ghibli Trofeo has an epic engine but looks quite off the pace otherwise, but if it was available at a bargain price it could prove tempting.

Main reason I'm looking to replace is that my warranty expires next March, having had the car since March 2017 and used prices are just silly at the moment.

I could sell it for a good price used and then order a new one for 16.5-18% discount on the Affinity scheme which makes it not to much to change.

Might be a gap in ownership of 2-3 months but I have other cars I can use in the interim.

Then I'd be sorted with another 5 years of ownership.

The new cars don't have a standard carbon roof and probably are a little heavier, plus maybe a GPF on the very latest ones, but folding rear seats, more tech and slightly more refinement would be welcome.

I really hope they haven't goosed up the steering, I posted on the Facebook owners group and 90% say they haven't. It does feel bloody perfect the way it is on the current one!

You can take an extended new car warranty from AR up until your car is 8yo for minimal cost, so no need to sell for a new one for that reason. The latest 2021 cars have been delivered with a GPF, and AR has drastically reduced colour and option choices too.

The colours on the configurator are not the only ones available. If you speak to the dealer you can get basically the GTA colours such as ETNA Red, Montreal Green, Yellow, but at no doubt longer lead time.

In fairness I too remember some posts being fairly negative…

Largely the concept of a £70k Alfa. Tbh, given the sales figures, it was an ideological problem not restricted to the forum…

As much as I love Alfa and now, having driven a QF, enjoyed one, I believe FCA made an error in picking the Giulia over a V8 Ghibli, at least on the world stage. Neither would have sold well in the UK because of the ubiquity of German metal, but a V8 Ghibli would have done the business in the USA, Australia and the Middle East. Instead Marchionne bet the farm on a twin turbo V6 when these markets demanded a V8, leaving the Giulia in a position where it was too expensive for the Alfa faithful and too few cylinders and not enough marketing effort for the new customers.
I genuinely believe the Ghibli V8 was sacrificed for the Giulia; wrongly so IMO. It’s still a great car, but betting the entirety of the farm on the USA to the detriment of your traditional European markets was a big error; after all four-door saloon sales were sliding a long time in Europe before the Giulia came out. It seems odd not to have replaced the Giulietta, which was more in line with European tastes.

Just saw a V8 Ghibli for sale new in Sweden. 580 bhp.

Just put a deposit down on a dealer stock Montreal Green Quad. Wanted another red one but Comp red is discontinued and the new Etna red with Sparco seats etc would be a 6 month lead time and the Monte Quad is available now.

Wish I could keep both! 2017 Comp Red with 39.5k miles will be listed for sale providing deal all goes through.

P.S Love the Ghibli Trofeo too!
