Ferrari 612 PPI

Hi All

Looking to possibly buy a 612 next week but as I have no experience of the brand or the engine, I was wondering if anyone could recommend someone who could carry out a PPI please? Both cars are in the Surrey area. Would a PPI check for carbon brakes wear or would that be additional?

Also have had a few PPI’s done in relation to BMW purchases and usually the owners don’t mind going to a garage with the car but I’m not sure any Ferrari owners would be so inclined so could the PPI be done away from a workshop?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Voicey is your man, AV Engineering. And the only way to correctly inspect carbon discs, unless they are utterly knackered and cracked, is to weigh them. That’s a big ask on a PPI but may be possible.

Thanks guys.
Rardley is closer but will speak to both. Though I was interested in the one at Rardley as well.

Brakes are a big concern as a full set all round is about £10k having spoken to dealers. Both have just over 50% clutch wear but at least knowing the clutch wear I would be going in eyes wide open.

Guys
Has anyone used SB Racing for any work?

They gave my Maserati Spyder a full service about six weeks ago. I thought they did a superb job in very quick time, and I have used one or two other well known specialists in the past. They also had some rather stellar Ferraris in for work as well...and a Brabham.

Mine is not a Ferrari I know, but I would highly recommend them.

If you decide to weigh them its only really 10 mins per corner. Also, check for cracks and nicks, scoring etc. At that level of investment a set of bad brakes would not put me off an otherwise nice car though. just my opinion FWIW.

Guys
Is a Ferrari health check the equivalent of a PPI?

The 612 I’m after is going into dealers for annual service so wanted to see if anyone knows how in-depth the health check is compared to a PPI please?

re the 612, not in Cardiff is it?
Thankfully not, though I did make the mistake of contacting the Cardiff seller few months ago when he was called orion??

No this is a OTO spec which has lived a pampered life for the last few years.

Having taken the advise above from Felonious I called SportsItalia today.

Spoke to Ashley Osborne earlier about my 612 purchase which is from another its not often these days that you speak to someone within the service industry that leaves you feeling compelled to share positive feedback with others.

I just wanted to say what an amazing guy, really informative and helpful who took the time to listen to my novice ramblings and never once making me feel like I was wasting his time, nor did he at any point do any sort of sales pitch. But then that is the best sales pitch in my opinion.

Nothing I asked was too much trouble nor was any question too stupid to ask him. So often these days “techs” are too busy to speak in plain english, but to my surprise Ashley chatted to me for a while and I think it may have been my realisation that I was taking up too much of his time that concluded the call rather than any desire on Ashley’s part to rush me.

I will certainly be booking my car in with SI once I get few weeks of driving done and pick up any niggles (hopefully not) but will nonetheless still book it in just for a peace of mind check.

Their rates for forum members are cheap but having spoken to Ashley I very much doubt that means the quality of their work is anything but top notch.

As a moderator I'm Happy even more Happy as a technician myself to keep hearing that SI are exactly the same as me.
Harry Metcalf is very positive about the 612 and he knows his Car's :)

Bravo! I'm not sure we've had (m)any 612s on the forum before, and yours looks a peach. Is it Grigio Silverstone? Definitely one of my favourite Fezza colours. Congratulations! I look forward to seeing it in the flesh soon.

Try to get it (and you) along to an event. There's an evening in Dean's (rockits') back garden or local or something this month (Cock of the North) and I'm pretty sure another at The Ace Cafe for an evening of gastronomic indulgence - sorry - avoidance. They're well worth it to meet other like-minded half-wits.
