My North Norfolk meet was brunch at a top quality pub on the coast with a huge car park from 10 to 12 on a Saturday morning. The first one got 7 people and 5 cars being 4200, GS. GTS a Testarossa and a GT40!

I was encouraged by that and the feedback to do another one on Sat 10th July when I hope we can build on the numbers. North Norfolk coast is a bit remote, but great drive to it on uncrowded country roads can be very attractive.... see u there!

Poses a bit of a challenge for the 1-hour's driving rule :D

Thank you to those of you who understand that organising in such circumstances is difficult
The only reason I stuck to Thursdays is because it’s always been on a Thur for Ace and the numbers are huge!

I’m renegotiating with them re the car park pay they wanted so I hope Julys meet will be there.

as ever, not everyone will be pleased, I’ll start the list shortly

Dem well done on all your efforts my friend…It’s not easy I know as when I have done Llandow I love it but the stress of getting payment sometimes makes you think twice about doing it but when you turn up on the day and everyone has fun it is worth it….You are doing a Sterling job buddy. Just wish I was closer …

This. Congrats indeed I wish I'd been able to go.

I've got three issues with the Ace:
  1. They're not going to let me in whatever, if it's Italian night
  2. Frankly it's a **** hole.
  3. It's an utter utter **** to get to.

But I get that others want to meet there, and they're not going to be crying into their Nescafe (in a polystyrene cup) over my absence!

@dem maser your efforts should be well rewarded

Agree with all this. I have sometimes wondered why we would leave the lovely Old Orchard (is that right?) pub to grind our way to the grotty Ace.
I suppose it's tradition innit?

How did they secure the space to all be together?

I guess the organiser spoke with the local authority and arranged it as it's a display/function area on the sea front.

I saw a similar event in Aldeburgh a few weeks ago with local car club, and the Lambo club did a similar thing in Frinton on a Saturday last month.

I'm a member of the club that arranged the Frinton meet and have to say that it's very active, arranges - via local WhatsApp groups - to meet for spontaneous drives or more organised events and gets a huge amount of engagement from members that enjoy their cars and love driving them.

Now, I'm going to stick my neck out here and note that other car clubs / forums tend to focus on, er, cars. Look at the topics on here. ******* coronavirus, inane shite about pretty women, ranting, winging, whining and trying to annoy other people. And we're surprised when not many of us get off our arses when there's a meet.

Time for a concerted effort to push SM back to being a bit more car-related and let's see if potential new members fancy sticking around and getting involved

RoaryRati, Dem and Doc Houx have made the effort recently so I think it’s a case of starting to come out the other side. I missed Wheels on Wednesday last week as I was stuck at work but hopefully next month.

I’m at Donnington next weekend but spectators still aren’t allowed in the paddock so it’s just a little weird at the moment.

For bigger participation of new people perhaps it needs to seem less of a closed group of friends meeting at the pub.
