He's not actually, he's advising them on how to get the best from the renewables on site to get maximum generation and what additional things they can implement to get the most from the energy they do generate.

He is being paid to advise a producer of hydrogen on how to improve their processes? Let’s agree to disagree then :)

Yup, strapping ourselves and the kids into mini Hydrogen bombs just to keep Greta happy. And the amount of energy required to safely extract it renders the process pretty stupid in the first place, unless there are massive breakthroughs in production methodology.

The amount required to upgrade the grid to support massive uptake of EVs would make HS2 seem like a bargain. And we don't have the money to do it anyway as we are not Norway. It's just a government saying what it thinks the Millennials want to hear, knowing they will be on the beach when 2035 comes so they can say anything.

Yet again, the sentiment is correct but the focus is in the wrong place. The largest contributor to emissions is shipping, perhaps spend some billions on how to handle that. It's so much easier for the militant brigade to chastise their friends and neighbours, much more difficult to pressure the true contributors.

I wonder when we will see politicians with the Kahunas required to tell the truth and focus the efforts on the actual issues, not the convenient targets.

Can’t have a go at shipping whether by boat or plane, how would they get their crushed avocado in Hammersmith?

I wonder if the avocado would spoil if they were forced to listen to their own nonsense and use carbon hulled container ships and wind power. Might take some time for that avocado to get to Hammersmith! And that ship is going to cost a fair bit. Oh, and there's a bit of energy used to make carbon. How about we use wood, nope, that's the forests and animal habitats. What about plastic. Nope, that's the oceans. how about fibreglass, nope, too much energy.

Can you sail an avocado?

In the early fifties no one had been into space. Fifteen years later, man was on the moon. And progress happens far quicker now than then. It’ll be fine.
And 15 years later still, no one has been on the moon since.

Do electric only cars batteries go flat over time? There's a Tesla on the car park at work, been stood at least three weeks, does it lose any charge just being sat there?

They do - I had a Tesla for 4 years and they lose between 2 and 10 miles of range every day (depending on how the car is configured and how much the computers wake up and do things while the car is idle). Eventualy it will run out and need someone to boost it before it can move again.

Greta and her friends don't want to stop ICE cars, they want to stop all cars. You have to wonder after that whether bicycle s will be next!!

A good friend owns a long established metal recycling business and he's found that Lithium is highly toxic and cannot be reprocessed!!! He cannot accept anything with Lithium in it.
Apparently the plan for when the car batteries wear out is to use them as battery storage for solar and wind generated electricity. But what happens after they start failing then?

It isn't leccy only. When will the masses wake up to how flawed EV are? Hydrogen fuel cells is the only way forward or vegetable oil diesel units like in the old Land Rovers. No emissions just a chip fat smell on the streets lol

Honestly staggers me just how many people believe the hype and buy an electric car.

Me too

The average age of a car in the UK is 10 years old, that means there are a LOT of £1500 cars on the road, how are the government planning to supply people on minimum wage a £1500 electric car , or are they expecting them to suddenly find £300 a month or £30,000 for a Nissan leaf

It's pure fantasy, and if they're expecting them to use public transport what a laugh that would be, I've used trains about 4 times in the last 12 months, one to get to Manchester airport , it was full when it arrived at Warrington , bursting at the seams when it left.

we had to run from a gig in manchester to catch the last train at 11:30pm which got cancelled then changed to a different destination so we had to go one stop , change then wait 45 minutes to get squeezed into a different train.

It's a joke

It’s going to be interesting what the impact of this is on second hand prices. Not now, but say in December 2035. Would in mean that a petrol car then would plummet? Or stay high, because of rarity.

Think of all those mechanics going out of business. Washing machine repairmen will be retraining.
Seriously though, I am keen to understand what will happen with classic and vintage cars. If values plummet I’ll not be able to resist buying.
