The general view seems to be that from a driving point of view the 720S offers little more than the 650S (just at a £60k premium on used prices). Both are monstrously fast and you just can't use the power. The 570 often wins out as a better car because you can boot it and not be launched straight into prison in sub-3 seconds. Aesthetically, though, I think the 720 looks wonderful, and the interior is fantastic.

Why is the 570 more expensive (generally) than the 650? I know the 570 is newer but it has less power.

It's also prettier and more useable IMO

Newer, generally better built (apparently), more likely to be under warranty.

I think the 650 looks better, personally. The 570 is just a bit vague, especially at the rear. Plus the 650 has that massive geek-out air-brake.

The Boxster and Cayman are just a bit too cramped, and somehow far harder to enter/exit than a 911, so not good for me as a daily/easy car.

Years ago, when the Boxster first arrived, owners of those would look down their noses at us 944 owners. Now, a good late 944 is around £20k while a nice early Boxster is around £5k. How times change!
If any one is looking for an investment Porsche at reasonable money, Steve Bull Specialist Cars have just listed an amazing 944 turbo. One owner for the last 25 years and only 70k miles. And all for about £22k. Bargain, and bound to go up. Vaguely tempted myself, but I really don't need two, so I'll stick with the red devil.

Apparently my loaner Caymen is about to be swapped out for a loaner Panamera Turbo. I'll be interested to see whether I continue to be a closet admirer of Pork even in a big barge-like thing.

To be fair, I've heard nothing but good things about the Panamera Turbo.

Stupid money for a new one though.

Another loss to the darkside

I'd never buy one, mind. It's huge, has enough rear legroom for Capes and Catman, looks a bit **** (imposing, but a long way off pretty) and has too many seats. Get one of these, you'd be forever taxiing people.

Four seats bad, two seats good.

Oh, it also must be really expensive, especially with all the options. This has a Burmeister stereo thing with loads of speakers, lots of buttons, fancy interior lights like a Dubai nightclub (but fewer Russian hookers*), weird LED lights that seem to do all kinds of trippy stuff and a big long glass roof thing. And I'd not spend that kind of coin, however much it is, on one of these.

* though there's more than enough leg**-room for them

** or leg-over, I suppose
