Unfortunately, the morons that vote and occupy social meedya will crucify the government if they lift sanctions too early or leave them on for too long. Imagine what would happen if, due to social pressure, they lifted sanctions and the death rate spiked. The same people would decry them for bowing to social pressure instead of leaving the sanctions in place.

Yeah I know what you mean. "Democracy is so overrated" - Frank Underwood

He had a point.

Nope move the decimal point two places to the right.

Thought it seemed low! So:
Population = 1.435 billion

Coronavirus Cases: 81,554 = 0.0057% of population
Deaths: 3,312 = 0.00023% of population
Recovered: 76,238 = 0.0053% of population

563 dead today so rates are increasing rapidly. 15 days ago in Italy the death rate (17th March) was at 345. This puts us in a worse position and frankly the forecasted figures for the next 14days look horrendous.

Assuming the rates reported in China are correct, if you honestly believe that Beijing only had 82 dead yeah you may have the figures correct. I'd say it is killing many more people and much quicker than any mild flu.

What is not being said and what I believe to be the case (what do I know) is that there has been under reporting of deaths over the past few weeks as some deaths have been registered as pneumonia etc........ so hopefully this is a catch up of more accurate reporting. Here’s hoping the total deaths is now right and the daily deaths will go down again tomorrow.
But this is all finger in the air stuff !

This was my concern as if you look at the US and the stupid decision they made (or didn't!) in Louisiana to let the Mardi Gras go ahead was nonsensical. Half the world was in lock-down or social distancing and you let 1.4m people mass gather in very close proximity. Makes little sense. Now Louisiana is spiking......no sh1t!

We should have not allowed so many people to travel like they had to on tubes with reduced carriages and service. Makes no sense.

However the numbers still in the bigger picture are not huge. Our natural UK mortality rate is circa 9.2 per 1k or 0.92%. Currently VC stats to date are:

UK Population = 66.44 million
Coronavirus Cases: 29474 = 0.0444% of population
Deaths: 2352= 0.00354% of population
Recovered: 135 = 0.0002% of population

In the grand scheme of natural mortality we are still taking massive mitigation steps for quite a small number......at the moment. We don't do this every year for the standard Flu.

Mitigation steps are to hopefully maintain the small number, but saying that, no vaccination presently so unless self isolation is until a vaccination is available, you'll get it eventually.
Standard flu less contagious/lower death rate/flu jabs to protect the vulnerable.

Is anyone else getting really p1ssed off about the mindless platitudes being voiced by third rate politicians on the daily report by the Government.
Look, three issues right now.....................
1/ Banks are making it difficult for small/medium to access much needed money
2/ Where is the PPE that a lot of medical professionals are saying are in short supply?
3/ Testing, testing, testing...............It is NOT ramping up is it, be honest FFS

There is no good us (us being pretty much most of the people in the country) staying indoors 24/7 if you "leaders" can't pull your weight.
Right now you are not doing a good enough job.
Yours Sincerely
Phil

Funny you should mention that Newton , just had a call from Frank Williams , they have agreed to upscale the engineering for us so we can now offer a complete route detection/ diversion facility that will automatically sync to your smart phone via google maps to enable you to steer away from potential danger
