Dyson DC 40! What an over complicated bit of plastic.

Finally worked out why it was not sucking - lower inspection flap missing. Ordered one from ebay

James Dyson an engineer? Heaven help the respirator design and users

spent a bit of time in the garage today getting ready to pull engine out and not come across a single seized bolt/nut, been really impressed with this little beauty bearing in mind its been stood for over 10 years, some nice touches from alfa, bonnet that swings completely upright for better access for servicing, all aluminium cast carb intake box, transaxle, in board discs, these really are nicely put together machines, just need the bloomin engine crane to arrive tomorrow now, here's some pics for all you alfistis, happy to receive twitcher and skoda jokes :p

More pictures of your Garage and what's in there would be nice if you don't mind ;)

no probs, I love seeing other peoples garages and motors , here's a couple of mine, i'm slowly getting back to my younger days with proper car mechanics and bodywork and thoroughly enjoying it again, especially with all this lockdown business now

happy days, got my crane early this morning and fairly impressed with the quality, the heart of this old gal is now out and probably for the first time since the marriage at the factory

Transaxle too. Are they a lot like the 75?

as usual the Italians ahead of the times, not sure about the 75 having a transaxle as never owned one, in the late 60's alfa gtv bertone had discs all round, twin cam, 5 speed box and I remember some one telling me it was dearer than an e type jag, not sure how true that is??

I was driving twin cam Alfa's back in the early 80'S when my mates had pushrod motors 4 speed boxes and drum brakes.
It was V6 Capris that took me away even if they had forum brake rear axles and both mine were 4 speed boxes. Very fond memories of the Alfa's though and Euro trips with my twin brother.

Almost identical, although I'm sure there were some technical differences. My 116 had a Busso V6 (although that took some doing to avoid a power bulge and line up properly), 75 interior (complete with Alfa control disco) and running gear. Not much left that can't be swapped!

The 75 uses much the same shell as the Giulietta and Alfetta, as Chris will know even the doors (with some mods) are interchangeable. All 116 Alfetta cars are transaxles Alfetta, Giulietta, GTV, GTV 6, 75 and finally SZ but although there are loads of similarities there are equally as many differences (even within models) which can occasionally catch you out
