Just got me thinking... MA55 RAT was knocking about on a few modern maseratis in London a couple of years back. At one point I remember it for sale. Anyone here?

Anyway. I still haven’t made that big life decision about whether private plates are for twatts or not. Meditate on that, I will

I've had a few plates but always linked to the car not my name. Don't mind them so long as not too much money, can be a nice addition.

What’s the market like for them these days? I always thought folk used to do it to disguise the age of the car, but these days it seems no one cares about being seen in a new car. Indeed, people don’t seem sure how to get the year from a plate. Or rather, I don’t, half the time lol.
In fact my old man has had a plate on retainer since the 1980s, it’s consonant - consonant - vowel - 3
The consonants are heavily used ones not weird like X
Any clue what it’s wirth?

i would reckon if you have a 4 digit plate hold ont it till after this lockdown is over, plates like most other things are just not selling and if they are it is for rock bottom or reserve.

Cheers. It’s my dads anyway, and he’s not had it on a car for about 30 years so I assume he won’t be flogging it soon regardless

Yeah, I worry about that. I do like a subtle or an excellent plate, but a showy plate seems a bit, well....

Apparently, the London Ambassador for Denmark has DAN15H, which is nice.

I have had two in the past:
  • my 1966 Subaru Imprezza Turbo was N555RAC, which I thought was ok, and
  • my Volvo V70 T5 R, Was R7OTS, but people thought it said 'riots'.
For a while I worked for a company called Dynix, and I considered getting D1NYX or X1NYD which were both available, but then I got fired, so good thing I didn't.

My plate on my Jag makes it look older and no one at work notices if I get a new car which suits me perfectly
