My mate has always sworn by Road Angel. Personally i think it was one of the most annoying things going. Constantly beeping and talking etc. Maybe the newer ones are better and you can hopefully turn things down/off.

They used to go off on the approach to traffic lights with PIRs that detect the presence of traffic. Which made me think that they are just wideband receivers as lasers and PIRs are in different frequency bands.

As far as I can tell, your best bet is Waze, where fixed cameras are mapped and mobile vans are generally noted by other Wazers.

As per above, I've had great experience with Waze as well. Even helps with pot holes to save your expensive tyres and wheel alignment. Depending on the area you drive in typically, keep an eye on Twitter as well. My local forces tend to tweet when they are out in the van or have PCSOs deployed with guns. Appreciate this isn't good for long drives but if you want a nice drive down the local country lanes, it's helpful.

If you get a warning on these devices about a laser, it's too late! and the radar detectors are a pain, going off for things like supermarket doors, Waze is very good, but reliant on other users, I will be investing in this https://www.pythondetectors.com/ at some point, know people who use it and swear by it.

This should really be part of the "are you worried thread" , im worried every time i get in the blooody car fer chrisake , its frightenning to think ( and im sure there are those out there that have gone out for an afternoon drive and got banned ) by passing through multiple cameras on one drive from A to B . Like others had the road angel previously and found it annoying , Hoping i might be clear now , but just before beginning of lockdown pretty sure i got camara'd at 95 in Cumbria , not heard owt since so pinkies crossed

+1. They only tell you that you have been caught. I am religious about 30mph zones as they reflect populated areas such as villages and I don't want to kill anyone who makes the mistake of walking into my path. I enjoy my cars on open roads.

A certain reprobate from Norn' Ireland was using a laser detector on the MOB running up through Switzerland (very naughty) on the mountains and it pinged from over two miles away (by road), we slowed to acceptable very quickly and the said device got shoved in the depths of the passenger seat by his wife! As we crawled around the other side of the valley there was a copper with a telephoto laser device posing as a wildlife photographer! Seems they had had a tip off of a bunch of loonies heading that way and they were using a spotter. Around the corner from him was a full trap setup on a fast downhill! Saved our bacon for sure.

I accept they are not great in urban areas but a laser in the mountains is not going to be a false hit.

Not sure it went under the seat, but was certainly stashed where they shouldn't be looking!

reminded me of this , just get a radar jammer but don't middle finger

'If you want to attract our attention, repeatedly gesturing at police camera vans with your middle finger while you're driving a distinctive car fitted with a laser jammer is an excellent way to do it.

'It's also an excellent way to end up in prison. As Hill's case shows, perverting the course of justice is a very serious charge which carries a custodial sentence.' said a policeman.

what a nob director, you'd think he would be switched on enough to think that it would have really pi-ssed the coppers off, as I understand this jammer thing is a bit of a grey area, apparently can be used as a parking aid, Disclaimer: please make your own enquiries, if you get in the shi-t I was never here and I will deny all knowledge of this thread:p

I didn’t say it went under the seat Eb; I was leaving it up to the readers to interpret exactly where she put it!
Ah yes - iirc it was the 'walkie talkie' that hastily disappeared just leaving the aerial visible...... :garmi:

My dashcam (thinkware 770) will warn me of speed cameras and speed limits, the speed limit warning is most useful as it’s easy to get caught out sometimes and make honest mistake.
