Make one out on the rig Allan; what could possibly go wrong?
I think we all do know, especially at this time. So perhaps not. But on a lighter note, we actually bought a pizza oven over a year ago, they are still bickering about the power supply requirements, and who's going to run it in, It will still be the same this time next year!

Umm, so what would go wrong? Genuinely curious

I think in an offshore environment, a potential ignition source? Everything that makes it's way out their has to be tested, approved etc. etc. Making something from scratch has even more constraints and procedural boxes to tick. It's fine to have something old held together with tape and cable ties though! lol

I use my Kamado for them, it does pizzas as well as any Ooni. I use a Pizza stone with an air gap between it and the plate and get the temps to 350 Deg C. Pizza Steel in and then 3 minutes later perfect Pizza!

I’ve got the Ooni Pro. Great machine, don’t use the wood pellets, use seasoned logs. I use oak mainly. Takes 10-15mins to get up to temp, pizzas cook quickly just don’t overflour the base/paddle as this burns. Took me about 4 pizzas to get it right, the comments about maintaining temps are valid, it helps if it’s in a sheltered spot out of any prevailing breeze.

Totally cheapo. I have a fairly decent BBQ with a flip lid, so just put a pizza stone in before doing meats, once temp up, pizza goes in as starter before the main protein course ;)

Apparently they work really well in year one, occasionally in year two and you can't remember how they works in year three....gumtree year four. Just like classic cars really.

I know we have been blessed with a good spring summer this year but how often are you going to use them? Will it justify the cost?

I have decided to get a circular stone to go in my Char Broil and try that first as Ms French makes exceptional Pizza dough and I fancy some flat Olive bread for apéritifs.
Welcome along Mrs Zagotoes don't be shy introduce yourself and tell us about all the things Andy is going to buy :)
