iMac not doing too well on first reboot!

C

Main iMac is 2017 and my MacBook Pro 2016. The older iMac is 2011 and that stopped taking OS upgrades at High Sierra. I have the wifes MacBook and the kids MacBook Air to look at but both those are quite old so might leave well alone

No issues here, Mac and MacBook upgrades both pretty smooth
My colleague "took one for the team" by updating to big sur. Only the corporate VPN access that broke so no biggie.
Also powered by coffee today. Sun is out but QP grounded until new tyres fitted and gearbox oil replaced.

All sorted. Finder had crashed. I suspect this was due to the catastrophic halt during a vid call this morning, and I didn't clean up properly after that (as I was more interested in connecting)
My mail server wasn't compatible. Should have checked earlier, but $25 and another reboot to clean start the correct Postfix instances all seems super.

Apart from the menu bar. As I am ante-diluvian, I still run multiple desk tops. All of them have the same background. Some of them have a black menu bar. Some of them have a rather more sensible one. Flicking between desktops, provides a random choice. This definitely appears to be a bug.

My iMac is a late 2013 model (even though I bought it Mid-2014).
The issue I have is that it wouldn't connect to the internet, even though it was connected via Ethernet cable.

After 5 hours on the phone to Apple Support, they have concluded that there is nowt wrong with my IMac and the problem is my Network.
I promptly moaned at the building manageress (very lovely she is too) and they put me in another office where my IMac worked perfectly.
The tested my connection and found it worked flawlessly with a laptop connected. I plugged my IMac back in, and it didn't work.

So am now using WiFi.

God knows what the answer is. But at least I can work.

Well the day did not improve as Alex and GF took the dogs out for a walk at High Beach and never got there as going past the Loughton exit of the M11 they got T-boned by an Uber driver in a Prius who fled the scene! Leaving his front number plate embeded in their car! The car following Alex was a Tessla who stopped and gave them dash cam footage of the whole thing and GF also videoed the culprit leaving the scene! Car is insured and registered as a private hire so it looks like (not proven) it is a ghost driver on someone else's ticket! Despite getting lofted and spun 180 both and the dogs are ok it seems, the car less so!

Good morning all.......FRIDAY.......

Wedding anniversary today. Met Liz in 1996 and got married in 2004. Remember her saying after I asked her to marry me that if I didn't ask here that year whe would have been off on her heals as she had been waiting so long. Keep em keen I say.... :)

To celebrate I have written a song about her so will see if she likes it later......Have a great day all.

Morning. Another mental week nearly done.

Congrats Andy you are a lovely couple and those boys are smashing, a credit to you both.

Kebabs for tea tonight (Paine of the few naughty pleasures of late) aching to get away and do some stupid car stuff.

Morning everyone!

Andy, have a great one! I'm pleased to see romance is well alive.
Newton, that's crazy. Hope they're not traumatised.

I'm losing a bit of my head today in hospital. A bit anxious.

HapPea Friday!

Morning all, sofas arrived from Oak Furniture Land at 07.05 this morning so been busy installing them and dealing with the packaging surplus! Kids seem ok after the crash yesterday, not looking so good for the car.

Over to Wimbledon today to replace the bearings on a roundabout with Christine.

Have fun all...

Today is bleak. Getting a car dropped down that has been to multiple garages and a main dealer. A 16plate chevrolet captiva 2.2d 50k miles doesnt run right. Has had fitted ecu, cam, crank sensors and wiring loom. The guy has over 2k on it now and still not fixed. Quite a simple fix I think but its cold in the workshop today. Other jobs, rr sport immobiliser and key set programming. Then a few buttons to paint for a guy thats doing a custom ice install on his 4200.

Morning all. Normal fish day. Using WiFi in the office which seems to be a bit slower the the Ethernet cable I have been using.
At least I have something. Now to try and catch up on things....
