I’m sure one will be along soon or before the petrol engine is laid to rest.

Such a great looking car Dan and one that has restarted my Lotus passion….If you get one you will have to pop around for that visit.

Other sources have said £75k for the V6

If it’s anything like the Evora. They won’t sell any, so they’ll do a more expensive more powerful special edition which won’t sell, so they’ll do an even more powerful even more expensive special edition which won’t sell. And before you know it they’ll be £120k

True... but to make a massive generalisation, you might assume the guy that bought the Lotus over the Cayman / Boxster / 911 is far more of a car guy rather than getting the obvious choice. The Lotus feels like the path less trodden.

Blue, V6, no roof, please. Alcantara on the inside, yellow callipers.
Ah, good taste, mine was same, but with roof...

I shall have a good look at it tomorrow at Goodwood, going with a mate who is a massive lotus fan, though he drives a Noble, He has been toying with swapping the Noble in for either an Exige, or Evora, but all the Lotus owners he speaks to says they would go the Noble way, this Emira may be the one to tempt him.

Who knows until Lotus official tells us. I will buck the trend as I would have the AMG engine one with its DCT gearbox and use it daily…

I am not sure this is true but a friend of mine told me the A45 engine has very frequent service intervals due to the large amount of power it delivers from a small package - something like 6 month intervals if you do any decent mileage. Might not be an issue for some people though.

Well I have been lucky enough to have trodden that path down for others to follow in the past. I would love to add this as my Lotus number 9….

Why did you end up owning so many, and of basically the same 'group'.
Did you get fed up of the colour?!!
You had basically three series one and four series two elise/exige, with only the Esprit being totally different!

Yeah but me & my mates wouldnt be seen dead in Romford, soz!

Some people on here keep saying “Essex is God’s County”. Not sure which god they’re talking about but I take it it’s meant as a compliment.

There will inevitably be special editions with 410, 430, and possibly more in due course
Depends on when the Euro7 emissions kick in. I would have though the V6 will be dropped eventually paving the way for the higher power A45 engine to be used

Very personally, I loved the 3 Evora’s I had, but they just didn’t have the quality of interior the car needed for the price, and the exterior design wasn’t quite well enough resolved.

The Alpine has similar issues to the Evora - the design doesn’t work consistently from all angles, and aspects of the interior are sub par on quality. However, like the Evora, it’s is a fantastic car to drive.

But whilst the Emira is very similar in size and shape, this time it looks like Lotus have nailed both the exterior design and the interior quality. The interior and exterior design looks different league, particularly at the suggested price point. So, if they have also improved on the driving qualities of the Evora, Lotus should be on to a winner.

And I think the price point is just right. There are many more people who will spend £60-70k on a car like this, than will spend £100k+ or even £200k+. And at this price point it will be a car people will be able to afford to drive, eg Evoras have proved to be nowhere near as price sensitive to mileage as your typical sports/super car.

You had basically three series one and four series two elise/exige, with only the Esprit being totally different!

Fell in love with the Esprit as a young lad and in 1995 a G plate Esprit Turbo came up for sale at Christopher Neil Lotus dealer with 90k on the clock but had just had a full engine rebuild. Think I paid 12k for it and ran it everyday for 2 years and it never missed a beat. I was hooked.

Didn’t get my next Lotus until 2001 a Mrk 1 Elise and while I loved it the new Elise came out a year later and loved it so was lucky enough to get a new one. Had it around 6 months and was at the Sport Car show and Lotus had a limited edition Type 25 Elise on show and I loved the paint scheme and my wife said we should have one and that was all the encouragement I needed.

Next I was in the dealer having the car serviced and in the showroom was a mark 1 Exige yellow. That car had so much presence so the deal was done.

Ran it everyday but it was so loud and my wife didn’t like coming out in it so saw a pretty Elise 135R for sale and wanted another one where I could take the roof off.

Drove an mark two Exige and that Toyota engine was so much better and loved the look and again the deal was done on a demonstrator.

That car was px for a Maserati 3200 which was very different indeed and although I loved it I missed Lotus and the fact I used the Maserati daily it was a strain in the pocket so that was replaced by a mark one Elise Sport 160 which I had always had an hankering for…..

A few years later children came and a bigger house to put them in and that was the end of that.
