Here we go, a few snaps from today at the FOS

Thanks for this. Some lovely detail. Just love it. Interesting that they chase a dark dull
colour with silver wheels for the one that went up the hill that weirdly didn’t do it any justice and the detail seemed lost.

The MC20 and Emira are aiming at different markets surely, especially with a £100k price difference. I could never contemplate a £200k car but something around £60k could be achievable. Now the 4C has gone the Alpine & Cayman are likely competitors for Lotus with a low end 911 being close if the V6 come in at much over the £75k plus price point.

Looking at the photos to date the Lotus has more of a high end sports car look, more Noble than Ferrari and all the better for it. Yes it will not sell massive amounts but neither will the MC20 and as above one I can aspire to the other I can't.

As I said, friend I went with was seriously thinking about one, had a long chat to the Lotus guys, it is basically an Evora with new bodywork, same engine and gearbox and chassis. The AMG engined one won't be available till next year, questioned that theV6 won't be powerful enough, ( it is quite heavy) but that is the maximum that the gearbox can take, so until there are some reviews of the driving experience then he will hold fire.

Brief came out in work this afternoon to say we have won a 5 year deal with Lotus to manage inbound to manufacture supply chain….So that’s Aston Martin and Lotus two if my favourite manufacturers. Just need Maserati to get all three covered.

Personally, I think the Lotus makes the MC20 look dated before it's even properly hit the streets!

I sort of see what you are saying Dan. I do love the MC20 and love the fact Maserati are back designing great looking cars again but not 130k plus more.

Just a point to reflect on... how much are spares going to be for both models?... Given 99% of us buy used Masers, the silly prices they charge for £70k cars is eye watering enough.

One SMer has a deposit down already.
Bit late to this thread, but yes, I placed a deposit on the Emira a month ago.

There are still quite a few things to be confirmed and it seems misinformation and speculation is filling the vacuum - some of what I've been reading here and elsewhere is incorrect.

All will no doubt become clear soon though. I plan to keep my Exige V6. For me, the Emira is ideal for touring Scotland, which is something I'm doing a lot these days since it's only just up the road and far better driving than the congested roads down south.

Won’t make the blindest bit of difference. Lotus has an image problem. Apart for 12 bearded blokes on the outskirts of Romford no one thinks a Lotus is cool.
I've turned up to a few Lotus track days and there are no beard types at all. Plenty of switched on youngish guys who tend to be pretty handy on track. Lots of newer cars too right up to the 430 Cup (several of them). So I really don't recognise the comment, it's not my experience, and plenty of young people think my Exige is a very cool car, so I'd say Lotus has a lot of cred.

Put beard in “” I mean they’re car geeks. Like most of us. It’s the problem Lotus has with wanting to sell more cars, they only appeal to car geeks. Where as Porsche, Ferrari etc appeal both to car geeks and the general public that sees them as a aspirational image.

I haven't lusted after a hunk of metal in my lifetime until now. If this is as fun to drive as I think it should be, it'll be a forever car (when I can afford one). Even things like hurracans don't work for me, as nice as they are....this ticks all the boxes.

Manual, decent sounding v6, modern enough without being OTT, amazing looking. Reminds me of a modern take on the f360 in so many ways.

Oh, don’t encourage Dan. Sure, he can pedal, but he’s no spring chicken.

I shall have a good look at it tomorrow at Goodwood, going with a mate who is a massive lotus fan, though he drives a Noble, He has been toying with swapping the Noble in for either an Exige, or Evora, but all the Lotus owners he speaks to says they would go the Noble way, this Emira may be the one to tempt him.
There was a Noble M400/GTO ‘making haste’ on the A3 into London as I turned off onto the M25. Absolutely fantastic to see it bowling along
