It is Red Bull that are trying to get Albon the seat but they believe Toto is the one blocking the move even though Toto is saying he isn’t. Red Bull believe he should have a seat next year and have been talking to a Alfa and Williams but the preferred team is Williams and Albon is the one who wants Williams also. Although the Alfa seat seems to have gone to Bottas now that Kimi is retiring (step up Russel) and I believe they are waiting for the ink to dry on the contract so seems like a done deal. Red Bull believe that Albon is good enough to go to an external team without a funding package which normally happens when this sort of move. While Toto is saying he isn’t blocking the move he is trying to get his own driver….Formula E champion Nyck de Vries….in that Williams seat so still some way to go before we see who is in this seat as I would imagine Toto will not give up easily.

And why would he? de Vries is a good driver, one of the Mercedes' academy drivers as well as being one of Toto's managed drivers I believe who he wants to get into a team that he still has a minor shareholding and which has and will have a Mercedes powertrain in 2022.

Why give Albon the opportunity to learn about the 2022 Mercedes powertrain and risk that information being taken back to Red Bull in the future. Mercedes have already lost several key HPP guys to Red Bull.

If Red Bull think Albon is that good, place him back in the Alpha Tauri. Honda will still consult but are out of the sport, and Tsunoda needs a bit more time.

This is just another Horner/Wolff spat.

Absolutely agree.

I don’t think an Albon move to Williams would be on if he was still anywhere near a contract with the Red Bull academy. Similarly, Bottas to Alfa has probably been done under his own steam as Toto would have little to say about him going into a Ferrari engined car. The chances of Alfa using a Merc PU are slim to non-existent in my view.

Gah another red flag. This lack of running in practice will hurt the teams and make for an interesting race.

I expect the race to be crashy.

Going to be interesting qually. I think it may be difficult to get warm up lap and flying lap in.

Russell was wringing the neck of that Williams, unlucky, Hamilton was wringing the neck of that Merc, again unlucky to miss out on pole. I've not done the Math to see if Hamilton would have pipped Verstappen first attempt. Gasly shone again and I'm looking forward to tomorrow

Tight circuit with no run off will keep them all keen in the first few laps, I am loving watching the F1 cars through those banked curves they just look awesome.

Just caught up with Quali. That track is something else, surprised how close Lewis got.

Not sure there will much overtaking.

Been looking forward to this race all year, as it's a complete unknown (much like Baku was).
Tyre degradation will be the key to this one; sounds dull but isn't.

Looks like Russell may have got a gust up his chuff ( windy as well as sandy - makes sense... ) Just enough to break traction...
Verstappen didn’t use DRS on his run to the line...Close but no cigar ;)
