It's over 100 miles to my nearest dealer, and it's not as if I feel out-of-the-way living in Dorset!

Same could be said for the McLaren network. I think such manufacturers with lower volumes should avoid sinking large capex into bricks and mortar showrooms and workshops and in its place offer free uplift of cars for servicing.

Indeed - the McLaren network is thin. Though there are two McLaren dealers (New Forest and Bristol) closer to me than any Maserati ones.

Bristol has a nice set up as you have Bentley, Lotus, McLaren and Lamborghini in the same building with Aston Martin around the corner. A sweet shop of metal for the car fan.

How many Maserati dealers are their these days…When I had the 3200 I had a choice of Cardiff and Swindon now both gone and the new dealer in Cardiff that came when the Ghibli came out didn’t last long. I would imagine my closest dealer would be what London now ?

Strange given what is happening elsewhere that we still have two dealers in Scotland that offer both sales and service.

The MC20 does not really interest me as it is too expensive out of the box for my pocket and I want my two door Maserati to be softer and more of a grand tourer. Best of luck to them though as it looks great.

Meridien gave up the Maserati franchise over a year ago.
But they are still service agents.
So for me to see or test drive a new Maserati, I have go to London.

Not that I know, but don’t most buyers of 200k cars use some kind of special finance these days?
I suppose if the numbers look similar to equivalent Ferrari, McLaren etc. then the depreciation question is not so important?
I guess most purchases of supercars will involve large money loss, unless it’s a GT3 or a special edition Ferrari, neither of which a man off the street can actually buy anyway.

I do think though, if there were a set of keys for an MC20, an F8, a McLaren and a Lamborghini on offer for a couple of weeks use, I think I’d pick the MC20 keys.

Surely you should just buy what you personally like at this level, without focussing too much on what you might lose.

Car finance is no black art. All you can do to reduce the monthlies is increase the discount (if there is one), cut the APR (but you can’t keep doing this), increase the GFV (but this eventually catches you out as cars are put back on the dealer) or make the punter pay a bigger deposit.

On launch I was not impressed, it's not the usual Maserati recipe of sporty GT handling and a noisy V8. But, I have warmed to the car recently and, having seen the one owned by Andrew North at Alexanders Prestige, I think it's a marvellous thing. IMHO, it's a slightly larger V6 version of the Alfa 4C which is not surprising as I understand it was originally going to be the Alfa 6C. I will definitely be in the market for one in the future.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but the MC20 is tested in tonight’s Top Gear - BBC1 at 8pm …

Nice looking for sure, but if it was coming down the road I wouldn't know it was the MC20 until quite close. They are all looking the same including the new Lotus, but at less than a third of the price in the case of the Lotus.

I live the Lotus as someone who has had a few the current range is brilliant and Lotus did need to something different to survive and they are doing it so well. The interior as in a different level to anything they have done before…but now I have seen the cars up close the Lotus looks like a car that costs under 100k where as the Maserati looks a lot more expensive in the flesh. Is it worth nearly twice as much ? Probably not but it doesn’t look out of place next to say an Aventador at the show but if had the money to spend on this type of car I certainly wouldn’t take the Emira over the MC20 regardless of cost. Both are fantastic cars but to my eyes the MC20 is the best looking car Maserati has ever made.

Watched the tg episode. Think i would discount the mc20 on the noise it produces, unless larini et al can work some magic. Otherwise a great effort
