Hi Guys

If you wondered where I'd been for the last few weeks..

I was hit by a car that didn't stop on August bank holiday Monday whilst walking through the village to get a paper!
Hospital for15 days in Coventry, multiple rib fractures, lung damage, ankle was snapped and a big hit to my knee and shoulder... struggling to breath at the moment but feel better than two week ago

They managed to trace the driver last week

Clucking bell Dave, that’s awful. Fingers crossed you’re on the mend and home now. Hope page 3 was worth the pain ;)

Wow Dave, that’s terrible. Hope your recovery goes well and I am sure we all hope something suitably terrible happens to the cretin that did it!

Wow, unlucky to be crossing paths with the idiot driver, lucky it wasn’t worse, although it doesn’t sound good!

Hope you have a speedy recovery with no lasting complications.

Anyone medical who might explain why I'm still struggling to breathe, I'm on lots of opioids

That's terrible Dave, hopefully you'll make a quick recovery.
Glad they've got him. The police and the courts take a very dim view of hit and runners. But a bet a pound to a penny that he was already banned or had no insurance.

So sorry to hear that Dave, the reason you are struggling to breathe is that you had lung contusions - so part of your lungs is not functioning well- like a partially blocked air filter. Also multiple broken ribs mean that your chest does not expand as good as before so the already injured lung does not expand very well either , another cause to struggle with breathing.
Usually such injuries require 6-8 weeks to improve, they just take time. Make sure you have enough pain relief as pain also restricts you from deep breathing.
From what you described you are lucky that you didn’t have more injuries. Get well soon mate.

I’m not medical, but if you are back home and not happy with your breathing, I’d be getting it checked sooner rather than later. Better safe than sorry.
