Thank you for the welcome and comments!
The problem as you probably know is you are mixing your preference between the GTS Auto and GTS in terms of spec. The former came with Tridents as standard and the latter with alcantara as standard. Tough one to get right but wheels and carbon can be swapped so I would start looking for a car with alcantara but that probably means you are buying a GTS.
....
You have not said whether you want skyhook or not? Standard on the GTS Auto but a cost option on the GTS.
Yes I understand that I am looking for something quite specific; from what I've seen quite a few people 'upgraded' the Alcantara interior for full leather anyway, which makes the search even more difficult.
Not remotely fussed regarding Skyhook.. I've read almost equal opinions for as against it.
What is your budget?
I’ve been looking for my first one recently too.
there is a blue one in Derbyshire on autotrader at a place called BAM. Still at Maserati in prep for sale.
The blue one at Hamilton Grays in Loughborough is sold.
The red one on pistonheads with alcantara dash is sold.
there is a red one with a stradale bonnet on AT. I question why does it have a new bonnet.
the dark red one on AT is reserved.
not many colours around, mostly black/white/grey
I don't have a specific value to stick to, but I suppose I'm looking at mid to low £30's for the right car. I appreciate that doesn't seem to go very far with the current Covid affect on values.
It looks like our research has highlighted the same cars!
I have been looking at this as a possibility but I can't help but feel it's highly priced, and a question mark over provenance regarding servicing and upgrades as it is a pre-2010:

Welcome indeed.
Have a read of the specs here

Trident design wheels are quite rare on a GT mainly because people tended to go for the Neptunes or Birdcage as they were no cost options.
I’d recommend driving them, as a pre-sport auto is quite a different experience from the MC Auto Shift in the Sport. Also a pre sport auto should have 4 round exhaust pipes instead of the MC Shift ovals.
Your potential wants cover quite a lot of ground, so that at least should give you some options on different colours.
Thank you for the list to the specifications, it highlighted a couple of items on one of the recent cars I have looked at down in Kent.
I think I need to try and find an S Auto and a Sport Auto to drive; from what I understand the S Auto is a more 'raw' experience?
I shouldn’t be that hard to find one that fits this brief, though you may well have to change the wheels retrospectively as Neptune’s are more popular/typical. Keep looking and something will crop up.
That said, and especially if it’s to be your first Maserati, I’d put history, condition and exterior colour way before something minor like interior fabric.
Yes I appreciate that is a huge piece of the puzzle.
I have looked at one so far, a 2012 S with the MC gearbox; it was very highly priced I thought - especially as it had previously been wrapped, needed a lot of paint correction, the headlining had been out as some of the clips had not been reinstalled and it an unknown exhaust modification.
