Eurotunnel - robbing b*stards

Had to change the registration of car we are taking to Le Mans as the classic won't be ready, OK the new car is 2 foot longer and taller but still under the 1.85m to allow it to go neither deck. How much do they want to change the booking ?

£90 on an original £180 flexi ticket (which allowed changes) - that's 50% of the fecking price just to change the vehicle
Stick the old plates on the car when you get there and then take them off again once out the other side ;)

If you carry on like this, I may have to unblock you!
Seriously though. What was that thing you said about me spamming you with PMs? Or similar?
To my admittedly chronically unreliable recollection, we've only exchanged PMs once and that
was thoroughly agreeable. I would've asked you about this before now. But, the last several weeks
have been particularly torrid and I really didn't have the energy. Only mildly curious Mark.
Not making a federal case out of it ;)

I would have pointed out the large amounts of electricity they supply to us usually. But that will all have to go to the rest of the EU, especially Germany, once they stop buying so much Russian energy. In fact it looks like the UK has a surplus of gas right now (make up your own jokes, in the Boris thread if need be).

The rest of your post I agree with. Like you I find it sad that such a beautiful country and people, with so much in common with us in every way, seems to have such a political chip on their shoulder. With each other as much as with us it seems.
I once read something about the French psyche in comparison with the British. Or heard it on BBC R4. Doesn't matter. The main point was, that because the French have been invaded a lot. Territory changing hands etc In particular, the German occupation during WW2. The French remain terribly conflicted about this occupation. For obvious reasons.
The amount of shame they feel about it and especially amongst the older generations and political classes is not to be underestimated. De Gaulle in particular never forgave Churchill for the way he perceived the Free French were treated, when they were HQ'd in London. During the breakout from Normandy, I believe the British and Americans viewed them as unreliable allies at best.

Macron was born 7 years after De Gaulle died. I reckon his opinions are his own and he doesn’t feel any shame about WW2. Why should he? Or pretty much anyone in Europe now? I’ve spent a lot of time in Alsace. People commemorate the war as a sad time but I didn’t notice any conflict.

I just think that all the French people I’ve met socially and in business have been pretty much the same mix of mostly nice people I’ve met in the UK. It’s just the country as a whole does have quite a hangup about some political issues. I imagine they think the same about our political hangups about our sceptred isle, the Queen and our place in the world.

Rat poison it really is evil stuff.
Just spent another hour at the Vet's after I thought my little cat was recovering and they are still gravely concerned with another blood test and another injection given very distressing.

Pot holes.

I hit a pot hole on my bike yesterday whilst going down a very steep hill. I was lucky it was my rear tyre otherwise I think I would still be in hospital.
As it was I was very lucky not take a very hard fall to the tarmac. And also relived not to have come off and been injured.

The local council will be getting a strongly worded email. And a request for the bill for a new tyre on my bike to be paid.:mad::mad:

It is Phil. Whoever has got it out in the open is a fooking idiot. We have to bait for rats occasionally as we have an allotment at the back of our garden. Always laid safe so pets can’t get into contact with it. Fingers crossed for you and the moggy.

Ditto. Of course under UK law there is no such thing as a cat owner :)

Other peoples cat poo drives us mad - we have harmless water sprayer we use to deter them from certain areas, but they still find somewhere else to make their mess.
I have been tempted to nip over my neighbours fence and take a dump in their veg patch and see how they like it.
