Mrs Scaf has had a lot on her plate and recently lost her mum and I have a window of opportunity to take her for a short break late next week.
I fancy Crete, so if anyone has any recommendations of a beautiful hotel or resort I would appreciate it.
Currently looking at a suite at Elounda Mare

I won't benefit from the tax cut so I've no hotels to recommend but I would say don't stay in a resort if you've any interest in history because you'll be out all day , Crete is a beautiful island

A fair point which is why I am looking for recommendations, we will hire a car to take in the sights……I need to book this weekend.

Not sure what tax cuts have got to do with me taking my wife away after the death of her mother, but ……… if you pay tax and or NI or run a business with employees and pay NI and corporation tax, you will benefit……. perhaps not as much as some…….. the tax cuts impact everyone.

It was when you mentioned resort hotels , they just sounded out of my price range :D

I went to crete in the 90s , loved it , there so much ancient history to see

We stayed in Gouves many years ago and hired a car for the duration; Crete is a cracking place, and even more so if you have the time to travel around.

We went to domes noruz near chania a few months back. It was nice, very relaxing. Direct access onto the beach with waiter service to your sunbed. They have a nice spa area too if your wife likes that kind of stuff.

Been to Crete twice, loved it, so much to see and do, one of the highlights was the 4x4 tour in landrovers up into the mountains, you get to stop off in villages away from the tourist spots, our guide was great as it was an all English group he took us to villages the Germans would not be welcomed at, because of atrocities they committed during the war, feelings still run very deep in places.
