All back together. Tensioned using the Gates App. It cost £500, Foskers were about £1000. Next time i will only need to change the actual belts as the bearings are all brand new - £100 !! Just need to find some rear tyres for it now!

Workshops says clamp the pulleys with mole grips ! A bit of grease coming out of the old bearings but nothing atrocious.

almost done ! Hill Engineering make a little tool to hold the flywheel while you undo the crank pulley - £140 but would struggle without it.

Alternator and PS belts off and idler bearings pushed out. Hill Engineering appear to want £85 per bearing Eurospares want £17 each but they always mug you on postage costs so i refuse to use them Ebay £15 each for the same bearings. Belts look brand new but are only £12 each. Hill...

    550 Cambelt

Not in the US...... The internet is awash with opinion and counter opinion on this, it is almost like a "which oil" thread. Uk states 3 years, the US state 5, it is the same engine and same belt. Mine was last done in 2017, the car hasnt moved for the last few months. I changed oil filters...

    550 Cambelt

belt looks fine - but that could be guaranteed, a modern belt wont fall apart after 5 years and 7500 miles. Bearings a bit rusty but not leaking.

The benefits of WFH !! Removed undertray, coolant hoses, air boxes and most of the belt covers. The airboxes were a nightmare involving lost spanners and bloodied knuckles, the bolts are underneath the box with little access at all. Perhaps through the wheel arch is easier but taking wheels off...

    550 Cambelt

You only get it wrong once...... Reading about Ducatis last night, they seem happy using the Gates or Continental App to check tension on cam belts. Less expense when it goes wrong, but they will rev higher and get worked harder. If I get stuck Foskers is only 15 mins up the road, will just...

    550 Cambelt

Fair point. "From the 575M WSM, the frequency when the longest span is struck is 126 hz. ", taken from Ferrarichat. I have the manual upstairs. it was set last time by Foskers, i would be confident that it was set right. I was working on checking as a way to check the tool accuracy. I managed...

    550 Cambelt

Evening, £300 of not very much !!! The Hill bearings are cheaper than the Ferrari ones but still £95 plus Vat is excessive for a bearing. Lambo painting will take a back seat as i have the Ghibli Diff to look at and then this cambelt. Not sure when i will start this but car hasnt moved in...

    550 Cambelt

Afternoon, Anybody done one themselves ? I have done a Fiat 500 and a Ghibli V6, there are a couple of youtube videos and they don't look too difficult, the WSM suggests you clamp the cam cogs with mole grips !! Tensioning the belt. Rather than buy a really expensive tool, i have downloaded...
