The 164 is a great car, I just can't bring myself to get rid of mine although for the moment it is just another project!

The 164 is the one car of my past stable which I really miss.

Effortless speed, comfort, agile handling and a massive boot. I also remember (3.0 auto) it was quicker away from the lights than any other car I've owned, and I count the QP in that too. I'm always nervous of thrashing my £3,000 clutch on the QP so I never do grand prix starts in it. With the 164 you just lifted your foot off the brake pedal and it was already motoring.

It is a great car I agree. My boot is slightly reduced in size to the standard due to the rear transmission and it is pretty good off the lights as there is no torque steer, due to the rear drive cutting in and the 24v cloverleaf engine puts out 231hp. Handling on an A road is superb

You should get one for the weekends!

Mine languishes in the garage in Bleadon - close to you Alfa Muppet! A late 2L on a P plate needing a respray. The rear sub frame looked really 'crispy' when I looked last week and so I worry that it wouldn't even pass an MOT.

Very close indeed, would be great to have a look sometime. The subframes are savable if it's only the lower plate, I've seen it done somewhere.
