25K is steep for a saloon even a Sportwagon would struggle at that price and even though 44k miles is low its not silly low but heh some one might buy it. There are a few low mileage versions from Japan that turn up every now and again but they are nearly always Selespeeds.

Never seen a Japan import that wasn’t a selespeed.
It’s a funny world the ‘modern classic’ one.
It does look expensive, but to me, it doesn’t compared to a similar age mk1 focus RS or Clio V6, both are much more than this with similar miles.
Not sure I’d have it over a 06-08 Audi RS4 though, which is similar price with similar miles. Does this mean the RS4 undervalued? E46 M3’s with low miles seem to have shot past into the 30’s now.

What it does show though is that Maseratis are really cheap second hand!

All Japan imports are selespeed, or I haven't seen a manual.
It is a funny market, when you start comparing against other cars.
My sub 20k miles 4200 for a start is not worth £25k, maybe not even £15k in the current market, makes the Alfa very expensive or my car very cheap!

A friend of mine bought a left hooker Alfa 156 GTA recently that was a manual. Prices there seem to be quite strong. I think it was around the equivalent of £22k over there before shipping and taxes to wherever it’s being exported.

I had a lovely blue 156 GTA Wagon manual - didn’t do anything brilliantly, but was appealing and went well - sold it for £6k

I suppose two factors play here. As much as strong the asking appears, if the car is mint it may be a case of try to find a better one.

The GTA has more of a blue collar hero status than the Maserati. A bit like a fast ford, no? So not directly comparable. Certainly cheaper to service/maintain and ultimately i think there are more sub-15k Maseratis available than GTAs. Particularly in the UK we are giving the Maseratis away.

Even though it is a GTA, I agree.

One my my neighbours has just bought a Selespeed, which is now under a cover. I wonder what the plan is

We had a 156 Sportswagon Selespeed. Terrible gearbox that never worked well and kept going wrong. Cost me a fortune to repair.

Selespeed boxes have a terrible reputation but as long as you have the software to reset them they can be OK, I have a friend in the UK who always use to swear by them but he knew them inside out.

To me a 156 GTA is an intriguing car but it doesn't do anything that plenty of others don't do better and not sure I would be up for paying 25K for one today especially not for a saloon but as I said each to their own.

Which is partly what's fuelling my curiosity. They have a Punto and a Giulietta but have, to date, shown zero interest in anything less mundane.
