A QUATTROPORTE V GATHERING IN 2021

Who here thinks it would be fun to get together as many QPVs as possible sometime in 2021?

I suppose we need some sort of field, or large carpark, ideally with a cafe (and toilets) next to it. Something like The Departure Lounge in Alton or Kemble Airport (with the AV8 cafe), but maybe with a more central location - maybe near Birmingham. A little airport, or a school, or something.....

And a date (Sat/Sun) when nothing much else is going on.

Plus a way to get in touch with all the QPV owners out there.

We could also welcome other QPs and Maseratis, and more, but the focus would be QPV.

Any ideas?

Anyone like to actually organise this?

How about Sywell Aerodrome. Central location, Hotel, Museum, big parking area.
And no not because it is close to me.....before anyone points it out.

Excellent idea. How about a reserved area at AutoItalia Brooklands. Sure they’d welcome it.

Should be all Mas don't you think? You have to cater for those less fortunate that don't have a QP too.....

I think it would be more appealing if it was open to all generations of QP's.

I suppose you have to pick some level of inclusiveness / exclusiveness that gives you the scale you want and the 'feel' you want.

I picked QPV because (I have one and) I like the 'neatness' of maybe 30-100 cars that all look very much the same. TBH, I'm not really a 'Maserati fan', but a 'QPV fan'.

There are already plenty of other 'Mas' events and 'Italia' events.

I think welcoming QPVs and those that love them seems pretty good. While also welcoming other Mas people to join in (on the periphery).

Does anyone know anything about Wellesbourne Airfield? Apparently they have a big flea market on Saturdays, so maybe combine with that or do a Sunday in that space.

Not sure whether it would be good to have a public audience (for showing off) or a more private space (for cohesiveness).

How about here they always look good gatherings.

Does look nice, and small groups do seem to informally congregate there from time to time. But...."We aren’t an events space, so we don’t run your typical machine orientated, one day or weekend “events”. We do however have regular themed days which are open to anyone and everyone. These are generally every Wednesday evening get advertised on our social platforms beforehand."

Where I store my GS caters for clubs.

Reasonably central near Bibury.

The classic car hub.

Have a club riom you can rent too... and a large hanger you can use if it gets wet.

I don't think you will be short of finding the right place for a gathering.
Some good suggestions so far.

Well 2023 will mark the 60th anniversary since launch - if we don’t want to wait that long, my suggestion would be to piggy back on an event like Auto Italia or Brooklands Italian day as it will drive traffic for them and there will be infrastructure and be reasonable cost - of course if we do this - I will expect a special subdivision for the Sports GT and Sports GT S QP V’s !

A meet for all Maserati will always get better attendance, but what you need is organisation on arrival so park all cars roughly by model
3200, 4200, Granturismo, Quattroporte etc etc

Utterly agree with the 'organisation on arrival' part - I obsess about that sort of thing. And most people don't seem to care.

And, yeah, maybe, but a UK meet for all Maserati already happened last year: https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/maserati-owners-club-weekend-at-gleneagles.29689/
...and there is a marque owners club (whatever anyone thinks of it) that can organise that sort of thing.
..and I wonder if QP owners are a bit put off - by either thinking a MasMeet will dominated by Boras and Sebrings, or dominated by modern coupes.

So I'm thinking that a 'General Maserati Meet' might attract 100 cars, of which 15 might be QPVs. But a QPV meet might attract 50 QPVs (plus maybe another 20 Maserati).

Yeah, piggy-backing can work, but conversely, a focus on a narrower group, and having a less 'big' event might be better at attracting a specific sub-set. In theory we could turn up at Kemble (or somewhere like that) basically for free....

I think we would have to have special subdivisions for people who write "GTS" and those who write "GT S". Not to mention the QP5 people. And the people who write Maserati or Maseratis or Maserati's :p
