Because the Tacx uses Bluetooth 4 or something, most laptops don't have that capability.
Something like that anyway.
You can get them for about 15 quid on Amazon, I went for a branded one just to err on the side of caution which cost 40 quid.

I've just had to buy a cassette removal tool and a chain whip to remove the cassette off of my bike to put on the Tacx.

All being well, I should be good to go tomorrow.

Keep your eyes open for the Aldi deals, I bought a full bike tool set, not brilliant, but functional....

Snap....bought mine when I picked my bike up earlier. Got a Shimano cassette as well I'll keep on the Flux in case I use the bike outside to stop phaffing around.

Right....so I've just found out what you can't use a long arm rear derailleur means on the Tacx Flux!

I've no idea what that meant before and not one of the idiot 5 Halfords staff across two branches said a dicky bird.

Now I know what it means! In the highest gears it hits/scuffs the top cover of the right leg of the Flux.

They should know this stuff so complaint on its way to Halfords. I knew Halfords are not great but I have had pretty much little to no help assisting with what I was trying to achieve. It is also well known it seems and an obvious simple thing to know and point out.

Right from the outside I said to Halfords I want a Tacx Flux and bike with anything I need to go with it. I made sure I bought it all from Halfords and glad I did.

I've bought:
20" Voodoo Marasa Hybrid
Tacx Flux
Shimano 9 speed cassette
Cassette removal tools so freehub socket and chain tool

I've Googled and can see some have got around it by using a longer chain but I'll go back to Halfords to see what they will do about it to solve my problem.

My question is so most/ all Hybrids or MTB's have long arm rear derailleur's? Is it common for these bikes? Or just a low end issue and more expensive bikes won't have this issue?

It is it mainly a Hybrid or MTB issue and road bikes don't have this issue?

What is the point or advantage or disadvantage to long arm or medium/short arm derailleur's?

Thanks all biker helpers in advanced

I've built the bike and attached it to the Tacx Flux no problem btw. Much easier than I was expecting. Especially for someone who has no idea what they are talking about or doing with bikes.

Small round things  thought there might be a problem should have explained better. Sorry.

The greater the difference between gears the more slack is needed to be taken up in the chain hence the derailleur needs to be longer. As a general rule if there are three cogs at the front attached to the pedals it will need a long derailleur (although some mountain bikes with two cogs also require a long one). Most hybrids have three at the front. MTBs vary. Most road bikes have two at the front.

Hybrids, MB usually have long derailleur to cover the range of gears on the rear cassette, otherwise it would pull up into the cog, as you say, longer chain may work on trainer, but will be a mare if you g9 outside..

What speed bike did you get. It may just be a limit and indexing issue you have.

Worst case just find the gear that runs well and run in ERG mode (sorts the resistance to work out the same gear without shifting)

Thanks all. I am and have learnt more ;)

The bike I bought is a 27 speed so 9 speed rear cassette and 3 front. It is a Voodoo Marasa.

I could have gone for the slightly cheaper Carrera Crossfire 2 which was 24 speed so 8+3. Not sure if that would be medium and would resolve the issue.

Looking at it I think this would solve the issue. Two pics show the white 24 speed looks like medium compared to black 27 speed long:
