Have to say its the dogs Richard looks wise........all it needs is a better build quality/reliablity and it will fly off the shelf...or are they all presold?

£45k, taking on the Cayman and Evora, i think it is dead before it's born i'm afraid; i just can't see people paying 45k for an Alfa. It looks fantastic but will it have the quality to match its rivals. The Evora has hardly sold well and Lotus are more established than Alfa in the sports car field, i hope the 4C is a success but time will tell.

I disagree. I think that's a very fair price for it against the Cayman and Evora. It has the looks and in that market, that REALLY means a lot.

I've never quite understood the perception of Alfa's quality. The cabin of both my 156s and my GT were about the best of any I've been in, short of the Maser. Much better than the Mercs, Volvo's or Audis I tested before I got the GT.
No bumps or rattles either, but meh.
Having said that, I tend to agree. I don't think it's got much chance, but I sort of hope it does.

Hope it does well but can not get away from the fact it's 45k for a 1.7...I know its the future but still hard to take.

Looks and performance. The 1.7 won't matter if it's good...

However, sadly I predict the magazines will declare the Porsche the winner. Because they always do.

I disagree, but I've been wrong many times before :)

Hmmmmm... Jaguar C-X75. Had a 1.6 engine, and I'd walk over broken idle software engineers to have one. Or hot coals. If it's sexy enough, size doesn't matter.

And I'm older than you, and have had more opportunity to be wrong ;-)

It's a hybrid so the engine size is a bit of a red herring. You've clearly used your opportunities to the max :)

Turbo technology is fine to a point...but has it limitations if looked on as a cheap option to max out your bang per CC...unless done very well.......not a fan of it

Oh yes indeed! :)

I'd still take a 500bhp 1.6 Jag over a Cayman. Even without the EverReady's... Therefore I'm willing to give the gorgeous Alfa a chance. Sadly though, I can't imagine that the magazines will, and so they will kill it stone dead.

Taking into account its 1.7 engine the original price banded around of £38k would have been fine.

£45 & £52k is just taking the p1ss.

I mean, dig out the old GTA Arese 3.2V6 and sure I would be clambering to the dealer forcing my money into their hands....its as simple as that.

...but the natural order of things now are:

Alfa - 4 pot
Maserati - 6 pot
Ferrari - 8 pot

Fiat??? - 2stroke???

Oh, and I would not of cared if the 4C v6 was slower than the 4 pot....when will Alfa ever learn?

I would imagine that most with a few options will leave the show room at 50k....It's too much....

Drew, yep they do....but I will add there is a reason for that.......They make great all round sports cars....People may not like them but there are plenty that do...Every Porsche I have driven has had great build quality, excited me, been a great drive and I have always felt that I could live with the car everyday and I think that is one the keys to Porsche success. Where asmo0st wouldn't dream of using a Ferrari, Lambo and a Maserati everyday the 911 you would and these days people like the idea of a car they can run to work in and have fun with at the weekend..........Every Boxster I've driven has always felt perfect the moment you fall into the seat......They just seem to nail the sports car thing...
