Alfa QTronic Auto Box. 6th Gear Issues

Hi all. I am having issues with the Auto Box on my 3.2 Brera, it has flappy paddles also. It is reluctant to drop into 6th. If I leave it in Auto it will cruise in 5th, and not drop into 6th. However if I use the flappy paddle mode I can select 6th , but as soon as I put it into auto it shifts back to 5th. Not sure where the issue lies, was thinking maybe drivetrain drag a sticky caliper or the like?

Have you ever serviced the transmission ?
New filter and fluid might be the answer.

No, and probably could do with it, on 142k miles. The old girls done well It is supposed to be a sealed for life box, I believe manufactured by Toyota. It appears to be fairly robust but not straight forward to change the oil.

As is typical, yesterday, where allowed I had the car at 80 90 ish cruising in 6th, knocked back into auto and it would still select 5th. This morning all back to normal, tried all modes and 6th is now OK. Italian Charm lol.
