The supercharger is not on yet.

I'm only finishing the car now, and I want to bed it in without the supercharger on.

Yes, it will be sticking out the bonnet, so I've got a spare bonnet I can put as not to mess this one up.

Thing is, the supercharger was already on a 8v 1.7 boxer engine (see the supercharger picture above on the 33's inlet manifold).

Now that is not such a huge job. Just a weekend job to be fitted and working.
The main "problem" is that I'll need some proper mapping to run it - which means stand alone ECU = $$$$

So , strictly speaking, I'm not yet worthy of my username :saifi5:

The car is now at a friends Valeting Centre, being polished up and getting ready to put some stickers on it....

Got some specially ordered OMP rollcage pipes for it, and booked a complete re-wiring for it as well, but all that has to wait, coz after the stickers, its exhaust time, and if I'm lucky I'll be able to get this done in a decent enough shape so I can take it at a car show on November 16.

Still need to fit the rear spacers for the rear wheels to come out a bit more, finalize the front grille and fit it, hamerrite paint the floor panels inside, and.... fit a seat ....

Here's a sneak peak (photoshopped of course) of whats about to follow in the next days ..... View attachment 17301

Looks like my old 1.8 Gordan Allen Sprint from the 80's

Got a call from the sticker guy just now.....

Got good news and bad news ....

Good news is that he is gonna start working on it tomorrow !!! :)

Bad news is that he cant work at my mates valeting centre, and I have to take the car to him at an industrial area...

This means that I need to pay for the tow truck again, risk getting it dirty by the rain and getting water into the car as not everything is back in place, and I wont be able to drop by and see how its going, as its further than I can get to during my lunch brake or when I get off from work :/

So, the Alitalia Livery is done :)

Very happy with it !

I will add something at the back and maybe something on the doors, but it will just have to do for now.

Also, the exhaust has been done, and as of last night, the car was towed home :) View attachment 179432013-11-11 17.26.41.jpg

So, now its Tuesday, I've got till Friday to :

- Remove all insolation matterial from the floor panels (scrape it off with an Fein)
- Hammerite paint the floor panels and seal up my weldings inside
- Refit the racing fuel tank which was removed a couple of weeks ago due to a leaking seal and was repaired
- Pick up the modified front grille from the paintshop and fit it - make some brackets to hold it in place
- Find and fit a temporary drivers seat
- Clean, paint and fit some exterior trim
- Make sure it still runs :)

On Friday morning its going to the State Fare Show along with 60 other Italian cars in our little section of "Italian Car Fest 2013"

I just hope I get the time to finish it, as its already dark now when I get off work :/

Well it's been worth the wait, cracking job mate, hope I get to see it one day. Still not sure about that rear end though and a Blower being fitted as well...high pitch whine followed by a very loud bang :battered:..ha ha

Looks great, now what about the other 37 projects you had going?

Eddie,

once finished, the car will be lowered about 30 to 40 mm more.
For the back, it will break up a bit with an Alitalia Sticker and something else (sticker) and I'be been thinking of a deffuser as well, made of carbon, as a lip under the exhaust with some vertical flares to the ground ? :conf4:
Maybe , will see :)

The other 37 projects I had going on are down to just 3 ;) Got my 33 done, my road legal sprint is almost done (needs a couple of days worth of work on it) and my Sud is at Mario's bodyshop still waiting to get that rear end repaired.
This one - as you know very well from your own experience - will never be considered finished ! hahaha

Where's the Sportsalfa.com sticker!! ;)

Yeeees... indeed.... where is that sticker ???

hahahahaha :)

Really, I wanted to put one on the front windscreen, but I'll need a high definition version of the logo to do so.
Realistically though, I dont think I've got the time now.

I've got tonight AND tomorrow night to finish the car off for the exhibition.

Last night I spent a good 3 to 4 hours, scraping the insulation of the floor panels off and sealing my inside welds with a .... sealant paste
Then I covered it up and went inside as it was quite late.

Tonight I have to paint the interior pilars and floor panels with white hammerite and again let it dry.

By tomorrow night, I have to get the front grille from the paintshop, fit the lights and cones on, make some brackets and fit it on the car, make some mounts and fit the fuel tank inside the car, fit the remaining exterior trim, locks and badges, and fit a drivers seat in so I can drive it off the trailer on Friday morning and into the pavilion at the state fare...

This is cutting it too close I think , but I cant get time off work :/

I was referring to that matchstick axle your using or is it a toothpick LOL, the back panel will look ok if you can run the exhaust through it.

I'm sure you havent, so I'm not worried about your Minion Car !
hahahahaha

Back on our subject, I've been working my tail off after work to get this car finished for the show.
It needs to be there by tomorrow as the exhibition opens on Saturday morning.

Managed to fit the exterior trim, paint the floor panels and fit a drivers seat last night !

So today I'm left with fitting the front grille/lights/cones and making the mounts of the fuel tank and fitting that too.
I think its safe to say... I'll make it ;)

The picture below is the sound proofing material I scraped off 2 nights ago.
This is only the material that was :
On the rear passengers floor panels left and right
On the drivers floor panel
and on the section that was under the rear seats.

The rest was removed earlier at some stage due to welding processes, and of course most of the rear boot stuff went off along with the spare wheel well.

So including the gearbox tunnel top and the bulkhead pieces, I would say its safe to say that this is about 1/3 of the overall material that went off.

And guess what ?
I shoveled it in 2 bags , and got on the scales with and without them.

That lot weight 4.5 kg !!!
So if thats 1/3rd , then its safe to say that :

The total sound proofing material of your Sprint, weights just shy of 15 kilos !!! :omg:

So instead of going on a diet, scrape it off ! :goodnews:
