Annual Concourse prep

Once a year I spend a couple of weekends prepping the car for the Club Concourse.
These are usually held in Sydney, but this year due to Covid costs we are relocating to the Hunter Valley this weekend, where a member owns a vineyard.
Here are some shots of what can be involved if you're going for a win. I certainly have the cuts on my hands to prove I detailed the engine bay. Note windscreen scuttle hasn't been done at this point.
First time I've used the Mother's Ceramic CMX Coating on this car. I'm very impressed with how it has been on other cars in the family I've done. 2 Coats give a glow and should hopefully protect the paint.

On the flipside of that argument, it's because I do so much driving the car needs the attention to keep it up to a standard a Maserati deserves.
Just dropped off the rear wheels for tyres replacement. Got 23,500 km out of the Michelin Sport 4 in exactly 3 years.

I would like my car to be like that.
But I'm too lazy to lift a finger to do any of it!

I have never been into this type of concourse type preparation but try to keep my cars above average.

The guys that do this on the classic Mustangs have a real problem in that the original build quality was so poor even an average car is better than factory !
They even reproduce chalk mark on the prop shaft etc. ........ each to their own.
Your car looks mint but the way

What joy, all that work and a drive there to find the event was called while I was travelling, for rain!
Caught up with family including an uncle who bought a new Cayman S last year. Was on order for 14 months before delivery.
It rained all weekend, so it the event has been put back till mid November. Take two.

Oh well, at least you have an excuse tj give the car another clean !

Seriously though, that’s a real pity after all that prep, but being able to catch up with family will have made the trip worthwhile.
