That’s the worst case of not setting a reserve I’ve ever seen! That is worth multiple times that in spares alone.

Simple, don't look under the bonnet.

I don't know why they can't make silicone hoses black either. Keeps it period.

Also, is the air box on the wrong way?

I happened to be at Bicester today so went and had a look at this. Stickers in the windscreen suggested a car that had spent much of its life parked on the streets of London and it looked it in many ways with tired paint in places. Interior looked OK aside from what looked like a repaired cigarette burn on the driver seat alcantara. Horrible phone aerial on roof. Headlamps need a polish. Wheels had been refurbed but not well and wrong colour I think. Brake discs rusty (may clean with use). Worst of all were 4 mismatched and cracked tyres, two of which were a make I had never heard of. I can never understand a prestige and performance car (or any car for that matter) being shod with ****. I did not check the history but the tyres would suggest economies likely taken. Overall the car looked more than its miles but I am sure could be easily improved and a nice car is in there (though I also didn't crawl underneath).
But it is a left hooker of course. Bidding stalled around £38K (£42K with premium) and was passed, but their website now has it marked sold so I assume a deal was done post sale, guessing it would have been £44-£45K all up.

As an aside the saleroom was not a pleasant place with intimidating behaviour from some groups trying to stop others bidding on certain cars. Disappointing.

If that sale price is accurate it’s about what Nuvola had it up for retail and with a warranty.

Not in detail on the forum but next time I see you. Back to the bad old days of antique auctions it seemed to me. Ringing certain cars and intimidating others who dared bid on them. Running others up.

Take a look at ACA next auction, not many in there yet but already looking very interesting. Montreal anybody? Or maybe a V8 Capri, it goes on!

You don’t see this often, especially with the S54 engine. I had one of these and as per my signature, this is the one I should never have sold. Worth looking at, it’s such a fun car to drive and with its quirky looks it’s a real standout without shouting out too much. They also keep value if condition is good. I sold mine after 5 years for nearly what I bought it for new.

I think we only got them with the S54 engine in the UK, they didn’t sell the lesser ones here.

Pre 2001 they were S52, then they had a small series of S54 with a few small differences which came out when the new M3 of that time came out - it was a bit of an afterthought, they were thinking of discontinuing but then decided to go ahead and put the new engine in. Mine was one of a special series of 25 (South Africa only, rare as hens teeth now) with AC Schnitzer wheels, suspension, short shifter and exhaust. So the S54 is pretty rare and the one to have.

Ah, in Europe you might have had the S50 - the S52 was the US version of the S50. So replace S52 with S50 in my post. I was hanging out on the US forum hence my memory of the S52..

After the Z3 MCoupe I had the Z4 MCoupe but that was much less fun to drive and also rock hard. It was a bit of a garage queen and I sold it with only 2500km on the clock.
