Has anybody been following Bloodhound LSR testing in SA?

It has been interesting watching them carryout their tests via the web and now they have achieved this years target of 1000KPH or 628MPH which makes it only the 6th LSR car to pass the magic 600mph. Next year it will get the additional rocket motor to help in the attempt to break the existing Thrust SSC record of just over 763 MPH

yes its pretty cool really, and can't until they get to the next stage and take a shot at the record.

I read about it a lot at the beginning. That it started with a Cosworth F1 engine (now a Jag V8) as a fuel pump. Nuts!

Its a shame it doesn't get the publicity it deserves, the engineering design is second to none, as for the 'pilot' / driver Andy Green what a cool dude, watching the SSC runs at 600+mph the car is on full lock and 10 meters OFF line - answer open throttles fully and accelerate to supersonic speed, that takes some minerals!
Quite how a Typhoon engine will only push the car to 600mph, it needs a rocket motor to break the sound barrier is beyond comprehension, the Jag V8 will provide the fuel pressure for it.
It has got me into the history of Land Speed Records there is loads of stuff on You Tube, certainly a British thing.

We're good at LSR, did you see Guy Martin on Sunday with his fastest tractor record
Remember when he allegedly got caught fiddling his driving licence? Some sort of weird and wonderful way of adding more categories by exchanging it for an Irish one back to a UK one or something...

I've followed the LSR project since the Thrust 2 days, and get the latest Bloodhound updates now. It's pretty impressive stuff, and all credit to the new team for rescuing what seemed a lost cause.
