It's an interesting one as the car, althoigh famous, has an odd history. It was once painted white by the Liberty Walk folks over in Japan and fitted with a daft bodykit. To me, that makes it less valuable than an untouched original car but I guess others didn't think so! Look nice of course though.

There's a famous dark green one as well which looks even better I think.

Were they all delivered in red so anything else is a respray?

When I went to look at my Granturismo before they did the PDI they had an F40 (red) in for a service and mentioned that it had never had any paint. The front end was wonderfully chipped away with the patina of the years. That was a decade ago, I wonder how it looks now?

Paint is so thin on the original cars you can see the carbon fiber weave, soany respray sports that effect.

Some further history here on paint shades.

Didn't Chris Evans get his done in white?
Yes....all of them...I believe I heard him say on a show, could have been Top Gear, including a very expensive classic that I think was a record at auction when he bought it. 8 mill springs to mind.,

Yes, the ex James Coburn 250 SWB California Spider. This was blue and the only car in his fleet at the time he didn’t paint white due to its rarity. The rest were all white plus he had a replica pink RR with FAB1 plate and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Rather full of himself but a genuine car nut!

I know this as I spent 3 days with him when I participated in the 2010 “Magnificent 7” drive for Children in Need where you got to drive each of 7 of his Ferraris over a 3 day event, culminating in a drive up the hill in one at Goodwood FoS. Unforgettable few days!

He sold this car and most of the rest and bought a 250 GTO for about £16M. This was an original genuine car in red and stayed that way.

I am not convinced painting a Red Car Blue makes it rare …… looks nice though
