...touching on the GTV vs its equivalent Masetati at the time, Ghibli and 3200.

Alfa GTV 3.2 was 0-60 in 6.1 vs a 3200 with a 0-60 of 4.9 probably illustrates why the Arese V6 put out so little HP????

..mind you, no one ever believed the official 0-60 times they are more pidgeon hole than actual.

Being honest Dem, my 2L TS was no slouch, really rapid and loved the power band at 4500 rpm, might go test drive one for a laugh.

GTVs are fun and they can be quick but I always hated that tendency to be a bit twitchy on the limit - 2.0 were worse than the V6 cars but I always thought that the rear axle would force the back of the car to step out without warning.

The 155 is a lot more consistent, probably the longer wheelbase, and can be driven right on the lint as the back is always telling you what it is going to do.

The 16V TS engine in the GTV and also in the 155 is a fantastic engine, not much below 3500 but once the revs rise so does the power. Chip them to redline at 7800 instead of 7200 and then you can keep them in the sweet spot and just listen to them scream - they love it.

Still miss my first 155 2.0 TS 16V, an awesome car that was thrashed for every one of its 103,000 miles that I put on it from new.

Agree with Andy, the TS was great in the high band, sometimes I preferred the TS as it was so easy with the V6, you had to work the TS harder which it loved.

Agreed, I have a 2.0 ts 156 and it loves a scream
Petrol gauge suffers badly though
On the whole though, they are very keen engines.

Light on the front, sticks like **** round the corners. Gonna miss that car :'( if I had the time and space that GTV would have a supercharger in it for definite, slammed to an inch off the floor and tracked :D

The V6 is a different car, more lazy torque than screaming revs - nice all the same but just different

Agreed GD, my 3.2 GTV was quite the animal, noticeably faster than the 3L. OK, .2 of a litre appears to make little difference but something deep inside is very different.

I thought the 3.0 was the last pure Alfa designed block. Where the 3.2 wasn't. Wasn't it a GM block?
