Hi Everyone.

Has anyone fitted a Dash Cam in their GT? If so, which one do you recommend?

I had a thinkware f750 fitted to my GTS but it’s currently in my Jag.
Front and rear and parking monitoring of hardwired.
Also there was a convenient “format memory card” button I could reach when driving ;)
Over the years dashcam have been helpful to me and I am a great believer in having them.

I have a 70mai A800s 4K dash cam, with a rear cam, including a hardwire kit so that I have 24 hour vehicle surveillance in case if anything bumping into my car, probably not needed as my car is garaged, but for a piece of mind when parked outside.

anyway, working great with crystal clear video footage and built in GPS.

Kenwood DRVN250 that interfaces rather well with my Kenwood head unit.

Collision warning (Off)
Lane departure (Off)
Park watch (On)
Random beeps on the M25 concrete section (On, sadly!)

Garmim46. Hardwired. Gives me speed cameras, lane departure etc.

Had the Garmin 55 for the last 3 years.
Again handy with speed camera warnings.
Recorded two impacts, one while parked, that ruled out being my fault.

The Thinkware also the lane monitoring (which I have turned off) and the speed camera alerts including mobile speed camera “area” alerts which I have on.

I think you can get hard wired systems monitoring the car when parked (a must on my book) from £60 so you need to pick your price point and go from there.

A one camera system without parking monitoring doesn’t have to cost more than £50.

I'm looking for a dash cam that might be of use also during a car-jacking. In that sense, footage would need to be constantly uploaded to a server/cloud drive or whatever. I know Dash cams are very popular in Europe, but I never see them here (Chile) and know naff all about them. I'll probably be buying on aliexpress or similar.

Thanks!

Nextbase 622 here - intelligent parking mode will achieve what you are seeking. Got it fitted by main dealer to avoid any downstream issues that it was impacting the wider electricals in the car!

Are you sure? Looking at the specs it appears that the photos are sent to your phone by Bluetooth (or WiFi), not to the cloud?

I was wondering if I could get away with one of the Aliexpress dashcams that has Wifi. I'm totally guessing here, and the only way will be to probably buy one and find out, but it would require the Cam to send to the phone, and then, some app in the phone that can regularly upload maybe to FTP or drive.

The problem (for me, unfortunately) is that a carjacking usually involves losing everything: watch, cell, luggage, car, dashcam. So footage would have to be uploaded. Maybe a voice command "upload now" ##$$@@ !? and the last cached 5 mins goes to the cloud.

I have not heard of any dashcams that link direct to the cloud - Thinkware has Wi-fi buts that’s just to connect it to my phone.
If you has one that saves the footage to your phone, can your phone be set to automatically sync to the cloud ?
All this car jacking talk reminds me of a video I saw once from SA I think, they had flame throwers under the car that would be effective but highly illegal ;)

I was looking at Blackvue after Barrie's (not his fault) smash. They have a cloud thing. I only skimmed the website but it looks like the camera has a sim card so data is uploaded to that there cloud thingy so you can, should you so wish, manage, delete / format the memory card remotely. In case, you know, you want to free up some space or something. Prices can be eye-watering, but cheaper options are available.

Maybe I should look properly. To be honest, they pish me off, all these ***** uploading images of people driving just about over the limit but not really in a bad way. Is nothing sacred? Though I do agree that proving you weren't to blame could come in handy Unless you were.

Nah. Just ask Matt for the 'special' exhaust mod, with side-pipes.

Could those of you who have mentioned ones you have give an indication of costs please?
Thanks :)
