Format won't do it. You'd need to overwrite all blocks of the memory card, typically with 0's. Just FYI. There are free softwares that do this.

Will they work just as you're passing out while the copper is walking towards you
You need a mission impossible type self destruct button to dispose of any incriminating evidence

Are you sure? Looking at the specs it appears that the photos are sent to your phone by Bluetooth (or WiFi), not to the cloud?

C
No - that's a good call; fine if someone bumps you but not if they steal the whole **** car and dashcam itself....not sure anything on market covers that presently.

If I was still conscious I would be tempted to eat it then :p

Mine is the cheapest one they do Blackvue single channel without GPS. Great resolution, good night vision, 128gb minicard which you pop out and put it in your computer and edit or cut and save plus the reason i went for the 1CH without GPS is it doesnt show your speed which is vital if the police require your dash cam evidence as it will show all your driving for the past 72 hours of on-time. something you might not wish to share.

micro SD's are quite small - you could probably swallow it if you were sure it was not in your best interest! forensic recovery is quite advanced though, I'd be worried anyway

From what I can see this model and some others have a separate USB mobile data dongle that can be plugged straight in, or slightly to one side with an extension cable. Data seems almost free these days (here at least) so could be an alternative.

Having said that, using your phone as a mobile wifi access point, and Wifi enabled dashcams, must be able to acheive the same result. Time to place an order, methinks.

Easy enough to swallow. I doubt it would be particularly affected though....

Does rather appear to deliver what you need

I want a dash cam, but dont want to see it whilst driving, so want one small enough to tuck behind the rear view mirrow. Hard wiring it in id imagine would be pretty simple.

Dash cam very useful until it dobs you in it...

According to Which?:

"
Incriminating dash cam footage is a two-way street
Most people's prime motive behind picking up a dash cam is to protect themselves legally should something untoward happen. However, you should also beware that the same footage can be used against you. Should you be pulled over by the police for a motoring violation they can ask you to present your dash cam footage for review. For example, a debate about your speed can be quickly settled by footage from a dash cam with GPS tracking. Similarly, if you take another motorist to court over an incident, there's nothing to say the judge won't hold your own footage against you should you be in the wrong. Deleting your footage could potentially be a serious offence, too, so don't tamper with it if the police confront you.

^hence the way to go would be no locally stored footage. All in your private cloud.

Made some progress last night toying with the idea. There is a sync program for android to your drive account that synchronizes any folder you wish on your phone. Now to get a dashcam that uses the phone as storage. The ones I have seen do that using a local private wifi (the cam becomes an AP that your phone connects to via wifi) to do this, but that does not allow your phones mobile data to work at the same time......... so, looking for a way around that.

Any ideas most welcome.

Not sure how that makes any difference at all, if you take the footage to court, or if the police see you have a cam and want to see the footage. (Although I'm not clear that they can demand it. I'm sure someone else will correct me)

Blackvue has an optional lte with sim card. You can pull the data remotely from the app into the cloud or watch live. It does not automatically record into the cloud though.

Yes the police in the UK do have the power to size evidence... they can also hold your property if it has been stolen to use as evidence.
Also you do pervert justice if you tell porkies!
