electric cars

at the start this was just wrong on so many levels, were is the engine music!
After watching this I agree and think this is a good idea and will keep these cars going. It's expensive at the moment but it will change.

Do we think petrol cars will become very expensive to run, if so this is maybe an option to keep this great looking cars still on the road. What I don't get is if all the petrol cars will become expensive to run, why are the cost of the cars going up so much...

Fascinating, But can't get over the lack of the noise.

yep, the noise, vibration and smell is all part of the magic. If electric cars do become the main means of transport then I think unexceptional ICE daily drivers will sink like a stone and be scrapped within say 10 years of the ban max.

As for exotic ICE cars, then I think their future depends on legislation on how and when they can be used, petrol prices and availability of spares. I expect the demand for more track days will go through the roof until they become undriveable as we can’t get the parts to fix them.

If that’s 20+ years from now I’ll either be dead or too decrepit to care. Thank goodness I was born when I was!

I personally believe the issue will be bans on cars over a certain age entering cities towns etc... you may be able to get fuel, but only drive on your land or isolated tracks etc.

These are the guys who did the conversion who have a show on Quest.

I caught the one where they converted the Chesil Speedster and I can see the point on that - taking out a wheezy 1.6 Beetle engine and replacing it with something that not only made it much faster but improved the handling by sorting out the weight distribution as well. I can also sort of see the benefits of doing something like a Defender but less sold on a Ferrari.

Of course one day humans will look back and say things like, what they had these things (engines) that burnt fuel to move and think it’s weird.

And without wanting to sound like a broken record. Whilst leccy cars have a place. For the petrolhead in me they do absolutely zero. You could donate a brand new, state of the art, 1000bhp equivalent electric Ferrari. Lightning quick. Blistering acceleration to me ...... and I’d still turn around, start my GT up and smile like a Cheshire Cat, glance back at the big battery, jump in the GT and drive off with a huge smile on my face.

Practicality and future of our lungs, yes, soul and spirit, absolutely not.

And if anyone thinks converting classics to electric is a good idea, please hand your membership card in on the way out

That's IT

We're petrolheads.

There may be sparkyheads that evolve. Who knows.

Ive been a passenger in some S Tesla, a hundred grand one or something (I don’t follow the brand range so I don’t know the models)

Ive said this before, he floored it, unreal, made my chest flip, unbelievable torque and speed. Made me go WTF, for that few seconds. Then bored the living **** out of me.

In fact writing all this makes me want to get the GT out the garage and go for a moonlit drive, Sport button pressed, growling like a 10 foot lion, and forgetting all the things that are rubbish in the world right now. Because if you ARE a petrolhead, it’s this that makes us tick and smile

Same here - 100%....

I had a Tesla S P110D for weekend in Copenhagen, 0-60 in 2.9, in total silence but that's it. And despite leather everywhere etc still felt cheap.

Stick with my slow QP5 DS I think....

They cut them with their steely knifes and smash them all to bits! Lol. Cars will be like the potatoe.

For petrol get smertrol.

Or something ;)

And like Smash, it's missing something when compared to proper mash with loads of cream and butter that makes your arteries go 'clang' just looking.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the new EV evangelist , where they're saving the planet because they bought a leaf and you're to be condemned because you don't subscribe to their point of view.

Thankfully if I'm not dead I certainly won't be driving when the world is electric
